Jack Fruit

How do you tell if Jackfruit is ready for eating? It's not that I like it but some of my friends do. My tree has 3 football size fruits at the moment ( first time ) so I would like to know when to cut them off.

I am informed that it 'smell good' when ripe. You can keep it in the house for a few days to ripen When you can pick the fruit without being pricked by the spines it is ready. Says my wife...

yes when they start to smell and you will soon get the wiff when ready,we get some of the best tasteing jack in korat we are told,but i dont tell them that our dog gives them a wash down at least twice a day

sweet smelling something simular when banana's are ripe,you can be standing yards away and you will say bloody hell whats that smell you can almost see it,its not a bad smell at all [not like durian] they will tell you when their ready.i was never a lover of them bought on the markets but ours are lush.hope yours come out the same.and oh one thing i like is all my fruit put in the fridge.
