I randomly found this health tip and since I always have bananas around I decided to try it. So far only a few days and I think I have already noticed a good effect. It doesn't take long to do and so far it's kind of fun. I do the banana thing BEFORE brushing. I can't imagine doing it after brushing as you'd still have banana stuff sticking around

My goal is modest. Don't need to look like a Hollywood star. Just some improvement for darkening from age, coffee, and tea.

I think it is important at least during the suggest two week banana treatment period to either avoid the staining drinks or use a straw. I use a straw.

I do feel it really probably is safe. It's not abrasive at all and I don't feel any teeth sensitivity that you get from bleach products or dentist laser treatments, etc.

My big question is what are you supposed to do after 2 weeks? Assuming you get a whitening effect, why would you stop? Maybe it will get more white if you keep doing it? What about a maintenance program? Maybe you're supposed to wait until there is more darkening again, and then retreat? I really don't know.

Anyone else tried the banana thingie?

After you read this, might you try it?

Well I'm still doing it. I see a change but it's subtle. I'm also working on some coffee stains and they seem somewhat improved. I read on another link that if you've got a lot of tartar you need to do the banana thing longer and since I'm overdo for a dental cleaning, this might not be the best time to do this. After the cleaning, I'll start it again and that will be starting from a base of cleaned tartar. Yes another site suggests the banana thing is helpful to gums. That's interesting to me but I don't know. All I can say is that my gums certainly don't feel damaged from the banana.

Tea leaves sounds like it would stain. Interesting.

Anyway, I'm now going to go on record with my opinion this banana regime has definitely improved the appearance of my teeth.

Now with more subtle whitening, without pictures, a person could easily delude themselves, but yes I detect some degree of whitening.

But the proof for me is that I had some really bad coffee stains on my middle teeth, top and bottom. The stains are mostly gone. The stains had been so bad that I don't think I could possibly delude myself about this. So something is happening cosmetically and it is good.

I did spend more time on the stained areas. That was logical to do.

I'd say: try it for yourself!

Mother nature is full of these little holistic treatments. Much like eating watermelon rind has the same effect as taking a viagra. That should perk up some ears on this thread. tongue.png

What happens if we rubbed on the skin?

Will it whiten the skin too? Just curious...for the sake of my step-daughter.

I think not practical.

Might have a go. Next time I see some bananas I will pick a bunch up.

Cheers.

Is this a stupid question or are other posters to scared to ask to ask do you use the inside or the outside of the skin? Yellow or White

The inside. The link in the OP has directions. The idea is to get that stuff from the inside sticking to your teeth and massaged a bit. You can even let it sit there for some minutes.
