Overquoting In Threads ...

Featured Replies

Guys, instead of quoting a page worth of earlier posts just to say 'I disagree', why not simply address your post to the member directly e.g.

MrWW, I disagree that I overquote !

Inevitably, the wags will now quote each and every post I make, but I suspect I'm not the only one who finds this tiresome.

I agree....but only to a degree.

If you are replying to only one post automatically are given 4 quotes it makes sense to delete the other replies and use just that one specific quote. However, With the qouting system still not fixed it can be a pain in the arse to delete the ones you do not want to use, so easier to keep them all.

If you dont include the person you are replying to as a quote they often dont know you have replied to them

The new editor makes it harder to selectively edit quotes, and the accidental mis-editing of posts is apparently looked upon poorly (as is the deliberate 'adjusting' of quotes)

There's a little button in the top left corner of the editing window (BBCode Mode) which gives you text-only which is easier to edit

Indeed

It's a pain in the bum having to toggle modes. I used to indent and colour red from quotes taken from a link rather than a members posts but it doesn't seem to work now or at the very least toggling from one mode to another destroys any formatting making posts harder to read. George said in the support section that there is a software update on the way, don't know if these issues will be addressed but fingers crossed.

Yes fingers and toes

Not enough.

If TV don't care about the forum side of the business which is evident to even the most myopic, then why not just dump it?
