I was grumpy yesterday. Internet packed up, phoned 3BB, great, sent a guy out straight away as there was no problem their end. Guy turns up does all the tests and says it's the cable from the house to the street so you will have to pay for it to be replaced. He goes and another truck came to do the rewire, great. They did the job, 400 bht, great.

BUT, he said that the original installation team used internal cable instead of external and the sun ate it. .........

well i done it again , i woke up the grump from his nanny nap again today , today was good as i was not grumpy as things went great today , with business and a good friend is coming over from Vienna to see my wife and I. Maybe i should have nanny naps... mmmmmm i not that old yet

Been one of those "set in" rainy days.

The missus says "lets go to the hot springs" about 10km away.

I say "It's a weekend, there will be heaps of people there....no"

"But it's raining....no-one will be bothered"

I relent....and as we get closer, there is a taxi in front of us ( a taxi out here in the sticks is a rarity 160km from BKK) I say "even people from BKK are still coming in the rain".

We arrive and the place is PACKED!

So it's one of those "I told you so" situations......but I was so grumpy I couldn't be bothered.

After reading many postings and comments I see being made on this site I wonder why there is not a forum specific for grumpy old men, because ther sure seems to be plenty of that kind about here. Would them being that way be a natural trait or does one get to become that way after being in thaland after any length of time ? I see so much written about how bad thailand and the thai people are. Sure there are scammers theives and other type of criminal elements abound here. But isnt it the same in every other country. Not to mention that a lot of the scams and other crimes taking place in thailand much of it is actually commited by foreigners and not by a thai national. Taking into consideration the total population compared to the amount of crime etc it does seem to be no more or no less than other places.

I like thailand , I chose to come here thailand did not choose me to come. I find that overall the thai people are well behaved with good manners and have a happy outlook on their life which for many is hard and a constant challenge for survival. I read on a posting a while back that the common impression that many expats have is that thai people do not like foreigners all that much, and for that I add my 2 bobs worth,

Little wonder many thais do not have much time for us judging from the way many foreigners behave here and run the country down with every little thing that they cant accept as being that is how thailand is. I better stop now otherwise I may end up being the founding member of the GRUMPY OLD MENS FORUM

I agree. I envision these complainers being the same no matter where they live. I sense their daily ritual consists of drinking beer throughout the day while being condescending and rude to the local population. We've all seen the type. The kind that has enough brain matter to be moderately effective in life but chooses to point out everyone else's shortcomings regardless of the circumstances. I have to think it's a means of elevating their self worth and/or importance. I don't believe age has anything to do with it other than these brainless fools have more time on there hands to spread what they think is wisdom.
