Since returning a few weeks from Myanmar, and prior to leaving again for a new contract I have stayed at one of my ex's hotel in Phuket, where her extended family stay. I have discovered (since they are quite open about it), that most of her dysfunctional family are cooking up and consuming a daily concoction of cough syrup and kratom leaves, (no lightbulbs nor mosquito coils as yet....).

Now call me old-fashioned if you like, but I don't think it is 'normal' for the entire family to be hooked on this stuff, and I'm not sure of the legality of it either.

I've heard about the craze of this new, recreational drug, but I would like to comments from those who know more about the effects and dangers of daily consumption.

In nay case, if the guest room spare lightbulbs and mosquito coils go missing, then I'll know where to look...

I'm off to Laos in a few weeks, so it should not personally affect me. But how addictive is this mixture? My own son does not reside at this property, but it's a hell of a bad example to give to the other family kids who live there.

Yes, i'm absolutely aware that kratom is illegal - that is but one problem. The other is also how addictive/dangerous this cough mixture/kratom is.

that is some serious ghetto junkie behavior.

indeed 4x100 is nasty enough, 6 and 7x100 is just nasty.

adding the powder that lines fluorescent tubes is just plain desperate
