Safe Maildrop for Indian Tourist Visa?

Featured Replies

Hello, due to VFS closing early next month...

With effect from 1 April 2013, all Visa and Passport applications submitted at VFS India Passport & Visa Services, Bangkok will be returned through EMS (Thai Post), to your doorstep.

That's <snip> great when your a backpacker staying in some nondescript hole in Khaosan...

Doubt there is any mail delivered around here. And then there's the worry of it EVER turning up.

Unfortunately Bangkok is my only choice to get this Indian Tourist Visa as both Malaysia and Singapore Indian Embassies are too lazy to give them out to Tourists...

So, can anyone please suggest a Pickup address that will work. I am applying personally and not using an Agent!

Willing to bus around to wherever to pick up..

Hope someone can help with this.

Thanks,

TD

Use the 'Poste Restante' service and have it addressed to your choice of post office ( provide name and postal code of post office)

You will need your passport as id to collect it, plus I think it costs a few baht to pici it up.

Google 'Thailand post restante' for more info including fairly recent Thaivisa threads.

"You will need your passport as id to collect it","it" being the visa which is glued inside the passport that you want to collect

Whoops !

I suggest a Post Office Box, we never had problems since we did this.

Take a look at MAIL BOXES ETC here:

http://www.mbethai.com/mbe_network_bangkok.asp

Looks like there's a branch at Khao San:

MBE Kao San Road
259 Kao-San Road, Taladyod,
Pranakorn, Bangkok, Thailand
Tel: 02-6272559

Mac

And the Passport will be in <snip> transit... They will need one to open a BOX!

Copy of the passport will do as well.

Several nonsense posts have been removed, as well as some inappropriate language.

Beware of the post office near Khao San Road: travelers have reported that the contents of their packages posted from here were missing when they got home
