BANGKOK: -- The trial proceedings of the criminal case against Vorayuth Yoovidhya, a 28-year-old Red Bull heir, was postponed today for a fourth time.

Prosecutors said that they were still waiting for more testimony from police on whether or not they should press an additional charge of speeding against Vorayuth. It was the same reason for the previous postponement of the indictment.

According to Manager Online, Vorayuth is now being charged with a hit-and-run offense as well as dangerous driving causing death.

Speeding will be his third charge if he was found driving at 170 km/hour as he was accused. The indictment was deferred for a maximum of one month.

That's nine months now.

At least there's no danger of the police moving too fast in Thailand.

They're waiting for the Statute of Limitations on the speeding charge to expire after one year in September.

Pathetic police.

In most countries, if a police officer was killed and dropped on the side of the road like garbage the police would be eager to present their evidence.

The police are dragging thier feet because they are soooo wieghed down by all the money that has been thrown at them donated to thier retirement fund.

Nothing will happen and perhaps when nothing does happen no one of any importance will actually make any comment on it. This kind of way of the rich, connected and powerful and their families avoiding prosecution suits all of them fine. Somewhere down the line one of their unruly brood will get in a spot of bother and will need similar treatment.

I also feel that the upper levels of Thai society where this kind of issue is prevalent is actually fairly small. So many of these important people, wealthy, politicians, top police, judges etc will be interconnected or friends, childrens friends etc with so many of these people, it makes it uncomfortable for them to actually do anything.

On another fast moving and even more open and shut case, where there is a CCTV footage of the suspect shooting the other persons brains out in Thonglor, what is happening with that? That guy was minor level compared to the Red Bull guy, so if there is no progress on that, what hope is there of the Red Bull case.

They certainly don't move as fast as he does.

So I guess if they had their tourist fast track court in place and he would have killed a tourist, it would still take nine months?

In most countries you would be dealing with real police.

Sad that plod can't be arsed to do anything considering it was the death of a fellow plod. Self-serving to the end.

They are just hoping it will quietly disappear,or if he ever gets to court and

is found guilty ,the people will have moved on and when a light sentence,

as has happen in other very similar cases,is given by the court, the indignation

from the public (if they really care) would not be forthcoming .

The compensation has been paid, lets just forget about it !!!!! TIT.

Nobody who lives in Thailand will be surprised by this latest 'development'.

The charges will be gradually watered down to a minor traffic offence and he might get 50 hours community service which he wont

even serve because he wont bother turning up.

Even if he was convicted of a culpable driving offence he would immediately appeal -go home-and the thing would start over again. More delays, more years more of nothing.

If a farang ran over a cop he would of already been tried and tossed in KP.

Everybody knows that the cops and the the victims family are being paid off.

Yet another case of SOFT (Shame On FFFFFFFFF...abulous Thailand). facepalm.gif

i read they are going to set up a fast track service for tourists and other visitors to the country who are susupected of crimal activivity and must go to court, maybe the should set up a highso fast track service too.........

Do you think they want real justice or money?

If the family have been paid a hefty sum. Then justice has been done. Thai style!

Different culture, different way of dealing with things.... MOVE ON.

Bangkok's finest not "rushing to the scene", then?

That's funny, the police seemed to make up their mind pretty quick regarding me speeding.

Caught, convicted and fined on-the-spot most expediently.

I'm not defending the Thai guys behavior, but in the US poor people usually rely on public defenders and the rich hire $500 an hour defense attornys.

Guess who does better in court? smile.png

Old tried and true lawyers trick, delay, delay and than delay some more,

in the end the public anger and interest will wane quite concededly

and he will get away with a slap on the wrist, it happened many time

before and it will happened again.....TIT..

we'll all move on if you, perhaps, get into a spot of bother and can't pay your way out of it.. i suspect you'll condone the difference in culture once it happens to you

oh well , this is the life of the rich and powerful ....... I am pretty sure that case will be postpone ......for ever.

An undeniable example of the primitive nature of this country and these people. They're so far behind the civil societies of this world it's laughable, yet so many of us flock here and then even settle here!! For what? Quality of life? Nope, cheap "Tail." No matter how you explain it, that's what it comes down to, sadly. Living here for almost 10 years has exhausted my patience and my skewed my once positive perspective beyond belief. Story after story.

They are dealing with real police, the more money they get the more real they become.cheesy.gifw00t.gifw00t.gifcheesy.gif

this is no minor traffic violation or petty crime. I don't think most of us who were raised right would condone it ourselves if we got drunk, high on cocaine, ran over an officer, ran home and try to bribe our driver into taking the fall, then showing no remorse.

Ridiculous suggestion. Only a rich kid who was never taught nor faced consequences would do something like this.

Well it's either accept the money or get NOTHING. This loser sure as heck will not see one day in jail. Like most of the poor masses, they are happy to get the cash. It's repulsive to us but that's the way it is here.

That picture of him he looks like a 16 years wimp. They check to see if he even old enough to drive.

Here's an idea, why don't you start by checking this guy Ferrari whether it's a legit

car or "assembled locally car" and don't be surprise at the findings...

The first good laugh I've had today.

only want to comment, the exact same thing is happening in Australia. Its not peculiar to Thailand. There are

still corrupt police perverting the course of justice and money still buys a lot of favours in a country, sorry bureaucracy, ruled

by lawyers. . . and a monarch of another country, in another country, confusion? Its deliberate. . .

So much indignation at what is occuring with this "Amart" yet these are the very people that so many Thai Visa members want to run the country (Again). "Go Fig-Your", as the Americans say.
