By English News

BANGKOK, June 24 - A Thai woman suspected of involvement in a human trafficking ring was arrested as police rescued Myanmar girls who were forced into prostitution in the eastern province of Rayong.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Division police said the suspect was identified as Chonthipaporn Palosilp, 32, operator of DD Guest House in the Rayong provincial seat.

She was arrested for human trafficking for prostitution and providing girls aged 15-18 years old for prostitution.

Police were informed of the human trafficking for prostitution ring by Freeland, a non-government organisation working to free victims of human slavery and wildlife trafficking. The NGO said that the guest house lured young women for the sex trade.

Police masquerading as customers of the guest house rescued four Myanmar girls.

The four victims told police that a Myanmar broker bought them from their parents to work in the guest house. When they arrived, they were forced to submit to proving sexual services; otherwise they were beaten.

The four girls are being sent to the Kredtrakarn Home where they will be both physically and mentally rehabilitated. (MCOT online news)

....we never hear of the follow-up or follow through when there are Thai perpetrators....

(I can think of almost 1 dozen cases in the past year...the criminals never seem too concerned....and it seems they are let off easy...)

T'would be interesting to hear in a few years, just what they do to her. I'm doubting that it will be anything like what they would do to a farang if he had been the customer. BUT, we all know -- TIT

Perhaps these girls dint want to be rescued.

They don't speak out because they are embraced after being dragged through the police station and put under the media spotlight?

I know for a fact many of these people are very happy doing this "work" because its easy, good pay, good conditions. but now they will be sent back to desperately poor conditions with no hope of a decent future.

Are the arresting officers, organizations & NGO's now going to support these girl's families? Answer NO - THEY DONT CARE LESS. bah.gif

Arrests like this are just set up to appease foreign pressure groups / NGO's. the Thais couldn't care less about the exploitation of their immediate neighbours, of whom they are taught to despise from an early age. Not long after the photographers and journalists go home, so will the accused.

Great - so you think its ok for somone to buy young girls 15-18 years old from their parents in one country, on the pretext of providing legitmate work. Then transport them a considerable distance into a different country where they are forced, by violent means, to provide sexual services for complete strangers.clap2.gif

You actually believe what you write???? That many of these girls are happy providing sex for anybody who pays because they are in good conditions and get good pay (which part of forced by beatings don't you understand?). I would like to ask how you know this for a fact, that many are very happy?

Your thinking defies logic or any form of social conscience. Truly mind boggling,

Where did you read this: "young girls 15-18 years old from their parents in one country, on the pretext of providing legitmate work. Then transport them a considerable distance into a different country where they are forced, by violent means, to provide sexual services for complete strangers"

I have met a Burmese bar girl who told me her story first hand. May I ask what is your "personal" experience, and why would you just believe the authorities blind?

They would have been forced to say that under pressure from the police (who are also under pressure from the NGO) so they can get yet another HT hit.

How come suddenly the Thai police have become angels. Naa don't believe it for a second.

I actually read it all in the OP. Read it again yourself carefully. All the information is there.

Let's see you meet 1 Burmese bar girl who tells you her story, which you instantly believe. So you make generalizations based on one conversation with a bar girl.

Do some research and look at all the reports on trafficking around the world and exploitation of young ladies. Do you disbelieve the UN, various investigative journalists and the police services of many countries based on your conversation? Do you have any friends in NGO's and police - I do, and I believe their comments.

Fine if you want to believe one story, but don't expect others to believe your theory that the girls are really all happy well paid volunteers and that this is really a police PR exercise.

Well done to the RTP for catching this female pimp - hope she gets what she deserves.

Forced to say that - get real. So you think these girls were happily working as sex workers, in a foreign country, perfectly happy in their freely chosen profession, good conditions and good pay. The along come the RTP and remove them from this excellent employer and force them to perjure themselves and make up stories?

That Burmese bar girl you met must have told you one hell of a story and made a big impression.

You really believe the "recruiter" went to Burma and explained - " we will put you to work in a brothel, provding sex services for paying punters - but the conditions are good, the pay is good and you get free room and board too". Do you think they provide social security and paid vacations too?
