PATTAYA:--In response to recent incidents involving Ladyboy’s and foreign tourists, and to maintain some form of normality on Pattaya Beach Road, if only for a few hours, Pattaya Police arrested 25 Ladyboy’s found loitering on Pattaya Beach, early on Friday Morning.

Police Colonel Suwan, the Pattaya Police Chief, ordered the Police and Volunteers to check Pattaya Beach Road from North to South Pattaya and detain any Ladyboy’s they could find and take them back to Pattaya Police Station.

As they were arrested purely for loitering, which is a minor offence, Police were empowered to levy fines of just 100 Baht per person

we have had racial profiling, religious profiling and now... sexual gender profiling.... or is it non-gender profiling.. or is it 3rd gender profiling... I am so confused I need to check my profile.... but BIB will fix it by giving them all 100 baht fine... for loitering... clap2.gif

I do love to read about these "Clean Up" campaigns. Once again Beach Road is safe for families!

But I do catch myself shedding a few tears for some of the working "girls." A whopping 100 baht fine is a financial penality that many will never recover from...

Since there is no other way but to harass these ladyboys often and fine within the one law of loitering, the police do just that.

Photos and ID's get recorded which are then on file should any one of the ladyboys be involved in something more serious than hanging around for customers. If police do nothing people here will complain and when they do something people make bad jokes.

The renovation work along the beach road to include the walking area is tremendous, the pace and quality of work included. One can only imagine how it will look a few months after completion with the loitering back in place. I get the point that Pattaya is a haven for loitering but can't they confine the loitering to a specific area and leave the beach alone? Put all the power lines along the beach underground, prevent motorcycles from riding along the walking area and ban the sale of alcoholic beverages from the bicycle ladies. If you want the beach area to be the showcase of the city, then remove the things tarnish the showcase. Severely restrict the vehicles that can park temporarily along the beach road, prevent buses from even entering the beach road.

In short, its not just the loitering ladyboys, its about compliance with a clear strategy which makes the beach a respectable showcase for everyone.

" the standard of people there it looked like a zoo." And zoos are tourist attractions! I should cease to be amazed, but I guess I am a slow learner... re: police bust. Are no other crimes more urgent, such as jet ski ripoffs? They are so brave taking on the ladyboys! like their fearless crackdown on smoking a month or so ago. I could ask how they can have any self respect, but I assume they check to make sure you don't have that before becoming a BIB.

just skipped the militairy draft.

The face that launched sank a thousand ships? She could get employment as one of the duo in the Cinderella pantomime - one of those who the glass slipper didn't fit.

A job in quality control in the Viagra factory could be hers for the asking.

Most amazing aspect of all this -- some expats actually call this place home... sick.gif

Whats Amazing about that? I call it Home as I'm sure many on here do.If you have such a low opinion of 'This Place' I'm Amazed ur here! wai2.gif

"This place" refers to the cesspool called Pattaya. I'm not there.

I'm enjoying the real Thailand. Thank you very much... biggrin.png

Good for you,I also enjoy the real Thailand and it's the Real Thailand I call home. Sadly This Place (Pattaya) was once a great place to live until it was over-run with every low life scumbag under the Sun.wai2.gif

It would appear you seem to be on an English Language campaign, I was wondering who you are referring to as "nothing people" ?

Not so cool now, Peter!! coffee1.gif
