Fried chicken takeaway called 'Hitler' opens in Thailand and comes complete with logo of Nazi leader in a bow tie
Bizarre restaurant opened last month in Bangkok
Images of Hitler have also been seen on t-shirts in Thailand

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

BANGKOK: -- Schoolchildren dressing up as Nazis and a billboard advert showing Hitler were just the start.

Thailand's obsession with so-called 'Nazis chic' just won't go away - and now a fried chicken takeaway called Hitler - complete with a logo showing the Nazi leader in a bow tie - has opened its doors.

The bizarre restaurant opened last month in Thailand and images of it are doing the rounds on Twitter as shocked customers take photos of the offensive eatery.

The fascist dictator's head has been grafted onto the body of bow-tie wearing Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC.
Among the grub on sale includes fried chicken and chips, burgers and kebabs.

Londoner Andrew Spooner, who spotted the takeaway, tweeted: 'Very bizarre Hitler Fried Chicken shop in Thailand. I kid you not. Complete with pic of Hitler in bow tie.

Alan Robertson, 43, who lives in Bangkok, said: 'The place opened last month and nobody quite knows what to make of it.

'I went in for a bite last week and got some fried chicken, which was pretty good, and asked the guy behind the counter why it was called Hitler.

it's the education system. I don't think these people actually admire Hitler but it's possible the school history syllabus didn't cover what he did and the millions he murdered.

At least the chicken is pretty good...

I seem to remember seeing this picture shared on one of the Hitler threads about a year back.

Is it a photoshop job?

I think the point is they don't care what he did. (In reality neither do I, and neither did Prince Harry of the UK, and the uniforms look pretty snappy)

Will we now get the band of TV members who have tediously cried continuously that people that wear the white mask, are actually supporting Guy Fawkes and displaying anti monarchy behaviour, now saying that people who eat in this fried chicken joint are actually supporting genocide, ethnic cleansing and are all anti-semites? rolleyes.gif

Fantastic marketing ploy, nothing less, nothing more. Wish I had thought of it first.

Should do well in a dictatorship!

I'm sorry, but are you really saying you don't care what hitler did?

Don't care at all, nor do I care what Genghis Khan, Slobodan Milosevic, Stalin, the Japanese, the IRA, Pol Pot, et al did.

It's in the past, forgive and forget.

Sort of like Colonel Sanders, but nastier.

It could be in retaliation to the German Buddha art display that started last week. On the other hand it could be just in bad taste. :(

Those are pretty strange values, forgiving and forgetting about anything that's ever happened in the past is a license for everyone to do what they please on the basis their action will be forgiven and fogotten moments after it happened. We trust you are unique in this world in havving those values!

Have to disagree. Some things can never be forgiven and should never be forgotten. There are people still living with what pol pot and his murderous regime did. The revulsion at the evil actions hitler and stalin as well as pol pot carried out is something we can never let go of. To forget diminishes us as people.

Mao is still on the currency of China and he killed more people than Hitler (if you want to look at history in these childishly simplistic ways) but everyone still wants their made in China iPhones. It's westerners who need to get over their obsession with Hitler, not Thais.

What Mao did was just as wrong but he isn't all of china just as hitler was not all of Austria and Germany. If the Chinese people are ever truly given freedom then I'm sure his reputation will be viewed in its true light.

I think hitler was responsible for more deaths than Mao. At least 25 million people died during his war in Russia. But as you say numbers are childish when the true horror of the nazi regime was its industrialisation of genocide.

I don't see any obsession with Hitler on the part of westerners, I do however see them reminding younger generations that he who forgets history is destined to repeat it. Interestingly the second world war in Europe is not a part of the curriculum in Thai history classes hence that probably accounts for the knwoledge gap.

What's childishly simplistic about harboring disdain for genocide? Humans are a pretty vicious species and always will be, no reason to pretend otherwise, I get that. But there's no good reason to celebrate it, either.

Still, my objection with this has more to do with what passes for inventive these days. People have a tendency of going too far, all for shock value: what once was detestable now passes for edgy marketing. It's rather formulaic at this point.

Those who have no past, have no future either.

But talking to a victim of an unsuccessful abortion is a waste of time.

Forgetting you are a Thai - no use, it's in your face and in your brain grey matter.

Hoping to be an American - no use, they were actively fighting all the scum you mention.

Bobbing up on waves neither here, nor there, you probably forgot the name of the substance that floats like you are.

Usually I am extremely civil. But not with Hitler or his apologists.

Slogan.

"It's carpet biting good"

How did we get from Hitler to lesbians?

I've no idea but don't worry I'm sure the T word will come along soon then we'll all be in our comfort zone.

Bluespunk, Chiang Mai

Guy's it's Friday night, it's just a thread about some frakking cartoon picture of Col Saunders with Hitlers head on it selling fried chicken. It's not a thread about Global history lessons and the slaughter of millions. Thai kids probably know as much about Hitler as Vicky Pollard knows about the history of Siam, and the only thing most middle age Brits know about the History of Siam is it had something to do with Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr. rolleyes.gif Don't they have a happy hour near where you live?

DO you actually comprehend the amount of people killed? tortured and starved to death?

Let me guess if it did not affect you personally, you could not care lessrolleyes.gif

Thailand is a great place - but for sure it can be bloody odd!

Not much we can do about this I suppose although it would be good if Thai children could be taught about Hitler and the Nazis if they aren't already.

Of course if companies like KFC and McDonalds decide to take action against what is obviously a misuse of their copyright and possibly deformation then tough.

If someone in maybe the USA or Israel for example decide that using something Thai in a way that offends them, then again tough.

I wonder are these stories shown in the USA or Israel? If they are then that's 2 countries the PM might want to cross of her shopping/photo-op to do list.
