A small Thai educational company that are setting up a tutor school style operation want to employ me in a non-teacher position as an adviser. Can they do this? I am not sure myself.

So long as the company falls within the required capitalization requirements and is paying into the social fun on the correct number of employees (2 million baht per work permit, 4 thai employees) then you could work as an adviser or consultant so long as you do not teach in a classroom
