Honda cbr650 2014

Recommended Posts

Can you now just go into Big Wing in Bangkok and buy one of the CBR650F bikes for 300,000 Baht cash and take delivery right away, or is it still the usual order process with a 3-4 month wait?

Also, when will they switch to selling the 2015 models? I like the red color, but I am worried if they start selling the 2015 models soon that Honda might not offer the same color options for next year's models.

Any word on next year's color options for Thailand in case I don't order a 2014 model in time?

You can usually pick up a 2014 on mocyc with 3000-ish km for 260-270k ( sometimes less )

I have seen quite a few & there is one there now right at top of list for 269k

with Ohlin shock & other upgrades like frame sliders etc

I would guess easy 50k baht of upgrades there

Now is a buyers market if you are interested in slightly used.

The way new models are pouring in it may be the smarter way to go

as many bikes lose value quickly these days

Some new mods for my cbr650f.

Touring windscreen: 1300 thb. One third of the price of mra screen they sell at bigwing and does the job nicely. Only for touring purposes and sometime commuting. For sporting purposes, stock screen is great. From k speed.

Front suspension adjusters: i think one of the best mods i bought. 1200 thb for pair. Dont fancy gold color but they dont have full black. Also not a super good quality aluminum as you can see from the close up photo. But it works.

It makes the front end great! Very less dive now and front feels a lot planted. It gives you nearly and inch of adjustment. From k speed.

Fork stabilizer/brace: To make front end more stabile. 1350 thb from rsv racing.

Braided steel brake lines: 5400 thb. with my usual 10 percent discount from rsv racing including labour. As the bike has abs, it is a long work really. you need to remove even the petrol tank to reach abs unit and some lines so hell of a job. They used 5 steel lines and 5 set of connecters plus nice shiny red aluminum mounts.

Good quality lines and braking is faster, much more easier to modulate and basicaly better. It is also a plus for the abs system. As always, one of the best mods you can get. Front and rear brake feel is superb now but front brake lever is a bit on the back for my taste. Will go rsv for an adjustment again.

Total: 9200 thb. Money well spent.

dynojet PC5 is finalluy available for cb and cbr650f.

http://www.powercommander.com/powercommander/powercommanders.aspx?mk=19&mdl=683&yr=2014&pc=16-052&mk-n=Honda&mdl-n=CB650F%20/%20CBR650F&pc-ver=PCV&add-mdlyrid=16-052&add-mdlyrid2=FC16052&fullstr=FC1605216-052&prod-type=PCFCPowercommander%20V&notes=91,

379 USD for PC5, 279 USD for Autotune.

If you want a simple unit, their new PCFC unit is only for 249 USD.

Quickshifter is also available at a pricey 220 USD excluding an extra 12 USD for special shift rod. I will pass quickshifter as tranny is great on the bike and clutchless shifts are smooth as butter so no need.

Will order one soon so looking for a full system exhaust. K Speed has a 14 k full system giving 3.3 hp or might go for arrow full system at 35 k thb as dynojet pc5 has ready maps announced for arrow full system already. of course a drastic difference between 14 k thb and 35 k thb! still not sure if i keep the bike long so do nto want to invest 35 k thb for arrow right now, can change my mind easily though if i see one available to buy in Thailandbiggrin.png

Anyone know what "Fix's Performance" exhaust actually is? I`ve seen a couple Thai guys with CB650Fs who had a modified exhaust but it looked just like the stock one with a bit loader and nicer sound. Not as load as most other aftermarket exhausts that I've seen but a good middle ground. Didn't get the chance to ask them where they got it from but I found recently on youtube a video of what I think is the exhaust in question.

Basically they cut out the insides including cat assembly which would cause you to not pass emission testings if you need in your area. Also will loose a few HP as exhaust is tuned to engine tuning.

i am thinking of getting k speed full system pipe for 14 k soon.

sounds good and light. besides, being a shorty, it does not look awkward and will not disrupt the weight distribution of the bike much.

it gives 3.3 hp they say. tested at bigwing bkk dyno.

like two bros one but it is expensive and no stock and arrow full system is 38 k thb here and you wait for while for stock and shipping.

i spoke with a couple of riders using k speed pipe for a while and they say no probnem and gud. it is a bargain at 14 k thb.

what do you say guys?

some new mods for mt cbr650f.

after struggling with lots of broken led signals and finding the rear end a lot busy with a plate like a sail, put the plate under the bike and added two signals just next to the stop light.

There are two opening next to the headlight to attach pannier mounts and from that hole, you can clear the cable so of the signal which looks neat.

bike looks a lot better and i am sure i will gain some top speed as sail plate is under the bike now!

Plate holder also had three white led lights and give light under the bike which looks cool and provide safety for u turns during the night.

1400 thb for the plate holder, 400 thb for the signals from 320 sp and a couple of 100 bahts for extra cables etc.

Also, with this setup, hard to take the photos of the licence plate.

Moreover, finally found a cellphone/camera mount that can fit! 550 THB all including the cellphone water proof holder which is not in the photos.

plus, got new knee grips. there are a lot better and sturdy with 6 months warranty.

rains are about to be over so will remove the ugly and heavy mudguard soon.

my bike with the latest mods.

money well spent - money is always well spent for me if it is about bikes, girls and booze:)

New rear looks nice, much better! Don't like the big wind screen but I'm sure it provides good utility. LEDs look good though I wonder if there's some really cool ones like the Z Kawas come with.

The K-Speed pipe is the best looking aftermarket one I've seen so far for the Honda 650s, most are really ugly. But I still prefer the looks of the stock one by far. Hope some guys will make a similar one? Good price at 14k but I guess you get what you pay for... are they stainless or will the screws etc start to rust after 3 months? Happened to my cheap Akra copy.

I think the mudguard in that position wont help much as the part of the tire that now with the removed plate spills dirt on your back is not covered. It would need to be higher up like some other mudguards for the 650 that I've seen. A bit like this one:

spd_20140709160854_b.jpg

Now if they'd make a mud guard that can hold the plate, that would be nice... Ducati for example has really nice ones that are also sturdier and don't wiggle around so much.

rains are over so actually thinking of removing the mudguard.

i checked it with water on side stand and even the plate is gone from the back, still mudguard prevents the mud/water spills. not much difference.

not many options for rear leds as this is the only model comes with 3M strong stickers to attaching it next to the stop light. no nuts or screws are involved. but surprisingly, those small led signals is quite powerful and visible.

you can get z800 style leds or many different styles at any major bike shop.

for the full system exhaust, k speed gives one year warranty and talked with some people and seen it on some bikes, did not notice any rust. dont know what happens after a year though but 14 k is a bargain.

it is stainless. i will but the plain black one not the kevlar covered one. kevlar covered one is 17 k thb but pipe and headers/collectors everything is the same.

There are some Full Systems for CB650 here: http://www.mocyc.com/market/1000905/

It's really amazing how many new parts for the CB650 are out there in the market in less than a year... so much faster than the CB500.

yep, i know powerlube pipes. but all of them are fake and decrease the power.

this time Honda contacted with aftermarket manufacturers in advance before they release the bike and gave them the specs so aftermarket parts arrive fast.

they invited major aftermarket part producers to honda factory for a meeting in advance all i know.

No reason why you could not keep the cat and gut the rest of the box.

Weld 'er up and go.

Better sound, and pass emissions. Looks like all the rest of the piping and baffles are for sound deadening anyway.

I guess noone is doing that because it adds more work or is more complicated? Question is: who can do a good job cutting out some of the dampening from the box while keeping the catalytic converter? Also would be good to know what a new one from Honda costs in case they modifications break it.

Simple job going by the pics posted above. Just cut in half (use a cutoff tool not an oxy-acetylene torch as much more neat and easier to re-weld) remove pipes and baffle, leave cat alone, reweld.

Any competent welding shop can do it. If it were mine I would do it myself, as have the tools to weld it back together.

Can you remove the exhaust system yourself ? Just take the box to the welding shop, have them do it, bring back home and reinstall.

Still waiting for a real CBRR...coffee1.gif

you can go buy a cbr1000rr anytime!

or you can go buy a cbr600rr from red baron or gray market anytime as well.

He's probably looking for a modern cbr1000rr that's not 30HP behind the competition

you can derestrict it. also some second hand full spec options around.

depends on the sport bike.

cbr1000rr is listed as 178 hp in Europe and USA and guys reach 160 rwhp in Thailand after derestriction which for Thai roads, it is more than you ever need.

even 120 hp restricted version is enough for here as you still have 1000 cc torque under you but yes, why the f... ck honda restricts it here, nobody knows.

they held a test ride event to introduce their 2015 line up at their training center located by Ramkhameng road a couple of months ago. They held a press conference and i asked this question in front of everyone during the conference. why?

they got shocked at the farang's question in Thai and answered as; 'due to customer feedback'!!!

Which customer can ask a restricted liter super bike? funny answer really.

European Junior Cup has chosen Honda cbr650f as standard bike.

Looks nice really and lots of mods.

Rearsets, clip ons adjustable fork, termignoni exhaust, racing fairing, ohlins rear shock, steel brake lines and possibly better brake pads and sure more such as an aftermarket ecu and air filter and better tires.

Wonder how they modified the fork? really interested on it.

Fairing also looks cool especially loved the rear end. Hope i can access these fairing soon.

I am sure they reduced the weight of the bikes at least 10 to 12 kg with exhaust and fairing.

wish the lads nice races and i hope we can reach these parts soon.
