webfact Posted December 13, 2013 Share Posted December 13, 2013 PM inspects northern rail lineCHIANG MAI: -- Caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra today inspected the northern rail line from Chiang Mai to Lampang after it reopens to rail service early this month. The prime minister was accompanied by Transport Minister Chadchat Sittipun aboard a train from Chiang Mai to Lampang.The 263-km section of the northern rail line from Sila-art station to Chiang Mai station was closed for major maintenance and repair for over two months following frequent train derailments.The latest derailment happened to the train which the State Railways of Thailand governor Prapat Chong-sanguan was on board to commence the rail service after the completion of the maintenance and repair work of the section.Ms Yingluck was welcomed by red-shirt supporters while on the way to Lampang from Chiang Mai.Late this afternoon, she will also participate in a public hearing forum of a rail project under the 2.2 trillion investment project of the government in Lampang.She will remain in Chiang Mai until Sunday December 15, although a public forum hosted by the government will take place on Sunday in Bangkok’s Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/pm-inspects-northern-rail-line/ -- Thai PBS 2013-12-13 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Oh so that steel thing is a railway line, oh yes and theres two of them, now I see that's what the train runs on.
