BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai Party has condemned anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban for threatening Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra′s 10 year old son to leave the country.

During his speech on the stage of the anti-government People′s Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King as Head of State (PCAD) protest last night, Mr. Suthep said that if the Prime Minister does not quit her position as acting Prime Minister now, she will find herself with no country to live in, as well as her son, Suphasek Amornchat.

"This is her last chance!" Mr. Suthep told the crowd.

Mr. Suthep also sarcastically advised Ms. Yingluck to find her son a tutor in Arab language, since her family might be expelled from Thailand and join her brother, former PM Thaksin Shinawatra, who is living in exile in Dubai soon.

Prime Minister’s Office Deputy Spokesperson, Ms. Sunisa Lertphakawat, said at Pheu Thai Party headquarters that her party condemns Mr. Suthep′s remarks, which she described as "inappropriate, verging on making threats and spreading fear".

"Is this [not] an act fitting for a ransom kidnapper?" Ms. Sunisa said, "Since he cannot do anything to the mother, so he will vent it out on her son?"

She added that a senior politician like Mr. Suthep should not resort to this harsh language. "It′s how you use a child as a victim of politics", Ms. Sunisa insisted.

According to the Deputy Spokesperson, many people have already filed their complaints to Pheu Thai Party Office about Mr. Suthep′s speech.

“We ask everybody to logically think of the situation from their own point of view: what if such things happen to your own children?”, said the deputy spokesperson “Please keep politics away from an innocent child”.

Ms. Sunisa also dismissed PCAD’s demand for the Prime Minister’s resignation, explaining that it is impossible and against the constitution.

She also derided Mr.Suthep’s claims of protecting the politics, democracy, rule of law and state of law, claiming that Mr. Suthep was actually the one who abuses the constitution and the country’s rule of law.

It is not the first time Ms. Yingluck′s son, better known to the Thai public by his nickname ′Pipe′, appears to be targeted by anti-government protests. Last month a report emerges that a group of parents with anti-government leaning blew whistles at Pipe in the compound of his school.

The harassment has been praised by a number of anti-government critics on the social network, who view it as a necessary method to inform Ms. Yingluck how much she is allegedly hated by the public.

Meanwhile, the founder of Child Protection Foundation, Mr. Montri Sintawichai, also criticised Mr. Suthep for using 10 year old Suphasek to pressure his mother. Such rhetoric was used to fan the hatred against Shinawatra family, including the young Mr. Suphasek, said Mr. Montri, who is also known as Kru Yun.

The incident of whistle-blowing at Suphasek′s school and Mr. Suthep′s speech directly affect the boy, Mr. Montri warned.

“It is unfair for the boy, as he is not in the status that is relevant to politics. He’s not even old enough to elect anyone into the House of Representatives”, said Mr. Montri, “It is inappropriate if we don’t separate him from the role of his mother.”

Mr. Montri also commented that Ms. Yingluck′s son should be protected and left outside the political games.

“Those people who listen to Mr. Suthep’s speech without questing his action are quite worrying”, added Mr. Montri, “if we use children as a pawn in any political game, it means adults would no longer have to consider about how to express their opinions toward children in an appropriate way. That is truly dangerous.”

As usual, the drama queen and Thaksin gig Sunisa over-reacts and distorts an issue, amply supported by Thaksin enabler rag, Khaosod news.

She should stick to writing bogus biographies while AWOL from the Army.

Must be getting desperate if all he can do is pick on a 10 year old child rather than the many legitimate targets there are.

Suthep wasn't too smart with that one. It merely underlines that he served his purpose and should be gone now.

All Thais can live in Thailand, even the missunderstood fugitive can come home. There he first must serve his jailterm same as all other convicted criminals.

Suthep would be criminal if he tries to create the atmosphere in which people would be attacked because they are family of the big bad guy.

I guess it is unsurprising, but we're seeing the nature of the beast and it isn't pretty. One suspects that this is a man who would kill, and may indeed have ordered killings, to stay in power. It is very hard to forgive the deaths of the health workers gunned down in 2010. But there are some on TV who will defend him.

The generals need to muzzle their beast!

Their slant is only equivalent to that of The Nation, but on the other side. It's not like they made up what Suthep said. Anyway, though I think he should stop bringing her son into it, it's not like he really threatened him. I don't think telling Yingluck to get an arabic tutor for her son really counts as a threat, does it? When you read the headline you're thinking Suthep threatened to 'trample' him or something along those lines.

Too much being made of it really. Anyway, don't they speak English in the UAE?

Why do people here on TVF take everything that is in the press as gospel......??...This article was produced by Khaosod!

Yes, quite sad. All newspapers are polarised in this fight. The Nation spews pro-yellow venom each morning.

What's most amazing to me is, that after seeing the actions and incompetence of both, the Reds and Yellows, there hasn't arisen another faction that touts honesty and efficiency. We condemn the actions of the supporters of both parties, but I haven't heard anyone talking about the great accomplishments of either. It's like two bullies fighting it out after they have beaten up the weaker kids. Everyone stands around and doesn't care who wins, because, when the fight is over, no matter who the winner is, both will start picking on the weaker ones again.

Exactly, school yard politics!

My own feelings and thoughts please. I never like teh Red Shirts nor the Pheu Thai Party and The Shinawatras but sorry, the Democrats are the worst lot. Its they with them supporting the PAD (Yellow Shirts) that strated the mob rule and behaviour in Thailand as a result the Red Shirts came into being. Again the Red shirts never won any elections in the last decades. They cannot claim to be clean and corrupt free as they have been so many cases against them to date. They also only support the aristocrats and the rich thai chinese communities but have never done anything for the thais and the poor. Despite having some members who are foreign educated, they actually do not like foreigners or foreign control etc (check on some of their past policies.) In all, I think that yes, manay Bangkokians are not happy with the Pheu Thai but neither are they with the Democrats but for the sake of a protests, many joined the recent protests but that does not mean that they support Suthep. I really think that its time to completely do away with the Democrats and let the Pheu Thai rule but with all the people ie the poor and middle class, joining efforts and keeping an eye on them and resort to any joint protest anytime something is wrong or not proper. At least focus on one party.

Suthep and his yellow thugs are just low level criminals. Animals. Cowards.

How can the Dems back people who use a 10yr old child in their fight against an elected government? It is just disgusting. All those who support these protests and their leaders are out of their mind.

Attacking a child is just insane.

I talked to my daughter on Skype ( no she's in Scotland not Dubai ) and she had seen a report on the protests in which Suthep was waving his arms, strutting and all but foaming at the mouth.

He's doing the protest movement no favours but since he's appointed himself the leader who can reel him in now ?

I know that's a dangerous question to ask.

For his sake, he better win. Otherwise, he's in for a lot of hurt when the dust settles. He's grown a little too big for his britches.

So what do you mean, they made up what Suthep said? They didn't. What Suthep said is fact, the opinions included in the piece are just that and you're free to agree or disagree with them. When you read a Khao Sod or Nation article (or, indeed, BP), you have to ask yourself, have they left out any context that might affect my judgement of this case? Because they frame things in different ways, sometimes leaving out vital information, or getting quotes favourable to their side. But the above is just a straight forward report about what Suthep says with some criticism from various people. Don't see how you can doubt it, really.

I'm not saying this because I want to make Suthep look worse btw, I don't think it's a particularly big deal. Maybe they should've included some quotes from activists who didn't condemn Suthep to balance things up:

แก้วมาลา Kaewmala @Thai_Talk 10h

Oi. Another child rights activist Khru Yui said PM also "used her son as apolitical tool b/c she cried in presser abt him [being harassed]."

แก้วมาลา Kaewmala @Thai_Talk 10h

Crying b/c your son was harassed=using him as a political tool? Was she supposed to laugh? Did he mean the mom cried, so d son is fair game?

แก้วมาลา Kaewmala @Thai_Talk 10h

The esteemed NHRC member Dr Niran declined to comment on Suthep's remark about PM's son.

แก้วมาลา Kaewmala @Thai_Talk 10h

I'm sorry to say, rights activists in this country will fight for the rights only of those on the side they sympathize with.

What's most amazing to me is, that after seeing the actions and incompetence of both, the Reds and Yellows, there hasn't arisen another faction that touts honesty and efficiency.

That's what Suthep proposes! cheesy.gif

Errr, I didn't see a threat. There was a point made that due to his mother corrupt practices that she will have to leave the country and join her criminal fugitive brother, which would mean that Pipe would end up going as well.

Exactly, I saw the same on an EU news, he acts and sound exactly like Hitler in the pre-war period in Germany, waving with the arms, shouting until foam comes out of his mouth.

He is a very dangerous guy, and believe me, not only for Thai and we foreigners, but for the entire democratic world.

Please all supporters, open your eyes, before it's too late.
