Is Manhattan good or not? How about Samaran, close to Panthip (and how could I go to Bkk without a trip there?)

SO many descions. I ALWAYS stay on Sukumivit and at the AMbassador. Want something even less expensive for this trip. What is the area like at night around Samaran?

How do they compare to the Atlantis? ANd what is the info for the Atlantis?

Oh life was so much easier when i didnt mind staying on Khao San road at any dive.............. :o

like the ones with windows that looked directly across the 1 meter wide hallway, shared bathrooms.... that i stayed in for a few weeks as I ran off everyday dressed up to look for English teaching job.......

Obvioulsy by my choice in accomodation i have not evolved all that much... :D

Since you are already familiar with Sukhumvit maybe these hotels can fill the bill.

FORTUNA HOTEL on Sukhumvit Soi 5 (not far from and cheaper than the Ambassador.)

This hotel is just down from the Nana Skytrain stop, on Soi 5 near the Foodland Supermarket, the Fortuna is just after that store. About 1300 baht per night, the normal stuff like TV, A/C, security box, HW, private toilet. Price also includes a pretty good "all you can eat" breakfast. (I eat breakfast there when I am in Bangkok, they allow walk-in customers.)

On Soi 11 is the BUSINESS INN HOTELwhere the A/C rooms and private bathroom is around 650 to 800 baht. On the same Sukhumvit Soi 11 is the President Inn for around the same price.

If you are on Sukhumvit, near the Soi 11 Konika store, you can see the Business Inn just down the soi, the President Inn is just past the bend not far from the Swiss Park Hotel.

Suk 11 Hostel is in this area with private rooms and dorms. Sukhumvit Crown Hotel has A/C (around 1100 baht with breakfast) and cheaper fan rooms for 470 baht, with private toilet, TV and refrigerator.

Stay one night somewhere and check out other places for longer stays.

Good luck.
