Sealing grout in bath and clean up!

Recommended Posts

Hey all, just had my bath all re-done new tile top to bottom.

The tile has been set for maybe 2 weeks, I think they did the grout a few days after installing tile (I was out of country ant the time).

They used a Crocodile grout, non sanded I believe as my joints are very small around a mm or so. The Crocodile package says it has an anti fungus and inhibitor in it and salt water staining ( I think ).

My question is

#1 Can I buy a grout sealant at Home Pro or Boonthavorn and apply it with artist paint brush? I hope to help preserve the grout and prevent any possible leaks....I have read on another thread to just buy the stone/concrete TOA sealant they sell.

#2 There is extra grout worked into some of my tiles...most are smooth, but I have some woodgrain and bamboo pattern tiles, and extra grout is worked in there..(not cement I think)

They sell a tile cleaner at HP for 500 baht to clean up after install but I think it says this is for cement and will not harm grout...I do not think I have any quickset just grout.

What is the best way to clean this up and hopefully protect the ground and tile for a long time?

PS, if it matters I kind of turned this more into a western bath where hopefully the shower area will be the only place seeing water.

Most any hardware store offers several brands of tile grout sealants. Yes the artist brush will work fine. That same tile grout sealant will look terrible on actual tiles. Sorry I have no experience with your question #2.
