Provincial police rally in Korat to protect dignity of police



BANGKOK: -- More than 1,000 police from eight northeastern provinces rallied in front of the Thao Suranaree monument in Nakhon Ratchasima province yesterday in what they described as to protect the police dignity and image.

The rally was hosted by former commander of the 3rd Region Command Pol Lt-Gen Cherd Chuvej.

The former police commander said the rally of the police was to defend the police over accusation by protesters in Bangkok that the police were responsible for the death of a police officer during the clashes between protesters and the anti-riot police at the Thai-Japan youth centre in Din Daeng on December 26.

He said the police became a victim of the public when they were accused of starting the violence and also of shooting one of their colleagues dead in Din Daeng.

He also said the police were looked down upon by the protesters and cursed but they did not retaliate.

The rally was to protect the dignity of the police and its image, he said, and vowed to support the national police commissioner to perform his duty within the boundary of laws.

The police also conducted a one-minute silence to mourn the death of their colleague in Din Daeng, Bangkok.

Actions speak Louder than words.

The BIB can gain Respect by being Professional and properly enforcing laws Firmly, Fairly, and Consistantly.

A good start would be for the Police to start enforcing Parking and Traffic Violation Laws and Rules.

Traffic and Parking is one of the most visable problems seen by all persons in Thailand.

Traffic Check Points are nearly useless to stop improper driving habits. They need to be able to stop traffic violators and take appropriate legal enforcement actions.

Citations and Towing of illegally parked vehicles.

If Thai Polce enforced traffic and parking violations the same as most other Countries; Violators would be substantially Deterred from driving or parking illegally.

The violation fines and the hastles of having a vehicle towed and Impounded are Great Deterrants.

This is just a start. But Traffic and Parking Fines can be increased and Police Salaries should be adjusted Higher accordingly.

Higher Police Salaries and Penalties for those Police that engage in corruption help improve their Image and Professionalism.

Nothing better to do?

I await the parades in support of their colleague killed by a certain heir in his Ferrari and the one murdered by the son of serving cabinet minister.

I can understand the feelings of the police.

But.....

While looking at the Thai news I saw some policemen, probably, behaving themselves as hooligans.

Destroying car windows, denting cars, beating passing people who recorded the behaviour of said policemen.

After doing their thing, just walking away.

I guess the police organisation has a lot of work to do.

And the politicians should have a good look at the police wages.

Just got back from the coffee shop where I first saw this gem of irony, and am still laughing...

Now, stop behaving like spoiled brats who were caught with their fingers in the sweetie tin.

That's the thin end of the wedge mate. Try working on the corruption, lies and deceit, murders, setting up innocents, resisting pay- offs,

stopping young girls and fining them heavily unless they agree to sex. This is only the start..........the list is as long as a toilet roll.

Police image - a bandit-in-brown standing by the roadside robbing the poor to give to the rich. Lazy & corrupt, they will not stir unless there's money in it no matter the severity of the crime.

As they say 'speak as you find' 2 years ago stopped by police from kholat asked if i liked fruit and gave me 2 bags seemed ok to me.

I had no idea, there are so many police! Where are they when you need them and only to appear when there is an accident or when conducting a stop check. Other than that, they are like somewhere unseen.

They do have an image which they themselves have created over many years and that is one of an ignorant bunch of poorly educated and badly trained extortionists who hide behind their ill fitting uniforms with the belief that they can do as they please. As far as dignity they are about the level of a soi dog.

However it must be said that their behavior is as a direct result of their superiors and administration which turns a blind eye as any real intervention would simply highlight how utterly useless and incompetent their masters were.

What you say is true.

But his last two lines if put into force and enforced would make all the other departments better. It would also be a more visible show of respect for the law.
