What is the best way to do some checking on a person that has applied for Nanny job. is there some sort of criminal background check with police, etc.

You should hire your nanny through an employment agency and they will provide you with all there documents.

As for checking criminal history i have no idea. Your going to go through a few nanny's before you find a good one.

I hired Burmese maid and registered them when they allowed it a few years ago.. Thai maids are lazy (no offense)

Best is really to hire someone who is related to, or from the same village as Thais that are close friends or family.

Usually for child care, have to go through half a dozen for each that ends up working out, at least for me and my kids, much more critical than cleaner/cook - or even bedmate for that matter.

I think word of mouth is important and also that you know where her family is, she'd think twice then before doing a runner with any valuables.

I wish i could work for you,but i am sorry , i not live in Thai.May you have to use agency,because every aupair in thailand go work in usa,europe must train how to take care kid and license driver and check bio with police also.

It's good to have a fluent English speaking nanny, that's why many pay a little extra and hire a Philipino.
