webfact Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Chalerm warns of intensified action against protesters, financiersBy Digital ContentBANGKOK, Jan 23 – Enforcement of Thailand's Emergency Decree will be strengthened with an emphasis on arresting protest leaders and taking legal action against major financiers of rallies, caretaker Labour Minister Chalerm Yubamrung announced today. In his capacity as director of the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order, Mr Chalerm said supporters of the protests will have their assets confiscated if they are found guilty by the National Counter Corruption Commission. He said the caretaker government will not block the media in their news coverage but may take action against the BlueSky channel which he said has distorted facts.Rallies by the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) have been broadcast and reported daily on BlueSky TV.Mr Chalerm said protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban should be careful and listen to a warning by political firebrand and Yellow Shirt leader Sondhi Limthongkul who was almost killed during his political protests against the previous government. He said the government will avoid using force or suppress the people but would concentrate on dialogue with protest leaders.“We have asked core leader Thaworn Senneam to stop the rally at Victory Monument which has blocked traffic and created inconveniences to people,” he said.Mr Chalerm said the government has put up a sign calling for “Peace for Bangkok” since the PDRC-initiated Bangkok shutdown. He condemned PRDC members for intimidating caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra when she performed her customary duty at the office of the Permanent Secretary for Defence at Muang Thong Thani, and at the Labour Ministry yesterday. The defacing of the sign designating the National Police Bureau was inappropriate, he said.He said he believed the advance election this Sunday will be carried out smoothly with the people’s cooperation, adding that more than 100,000 police personnel will be on duty during the election. harrry Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Is Chalerm now starting to do his job? Yes...next thing he will be sending in the bulldozers and having to turn the sites into parks like he had to do when he tore down part of Sukemvite.

Popular Post LucidLucifer Posted January 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 23, 2014 This morning it was.......Labor Minister Chalerm Yubamrung..... has pledged that he will negotiate with the anti-government protesters to end their activities without using force. This afternoon, after a few drops of ear medicine, it becomes.....Enforcement of Thailand's Emergency Decree will be strengthened with an emphasis on arresting protest leaders and taking legal action against major financiers of rallies. 8
Popular Post mrtoad Posted January 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 23, 2014 Obviously The Headless one has had a few snifters of ear medicine, which is a concern when he's now supposedly trying to bring things to a peaceful end. With his track record of intimidation, thuggery, corruption and drunkenness this is a recipe for disaster. 5
rogerdee123 Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Once again .... grasping at straws ........ how many hours did his "Peace Campaign" last before it failed ... I thought he had promised to be beheaded in December

TVGerry Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 LOL! First he says he'll 'talk' it out with the protestors. Now he just threatened the leaders with death. Way to go Chalerm! It wouldn't be normal if you didn't threaten someone. Now why don't you promise to behead yourself if you don't disperse the protestors within a time frame? 2
Popular Post BKKBrit Posted January 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 23, 2014 Delighted to hear he's taking action against the financiers and I hope he names them. I have already closed my two accounts with one bank that I do know is a major contributor. Wasn't much but my choice to show my disagreement with their policy. But the reference to Sondhi's warning is a bit noxious. 3
Popular Post Tatsujin Posted January 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 23, 2014 Wow, lots of complaints about Suthep being crazy, but this one continues to take the biscuit. More worryingly he's actually in a position of power and responsibility. This morning it was "talks", this afternoon warnings of "action", this evening who knows ... I wonder if he knows he's going to be the Thaksin fall guy when this all goes horribly wrong? Probably too drunk to care. 6
Popular Post FangFerang Posted January 23, 2014 Popular Post Posted January 23, 2014 There is sporting event going on called "Let's Be More Stupid Than the Other Side". Today...it's "all right, we'll call it a draw. "Reluctantly, King Arthur fights the Black Knight and, after a short battle, the Knight's left arm is severed. Even at this the Knight refuses to stand aside, insisting "'Tis but a scratch", later insisting that he has "had worse", and fights on while holding his sword with his remaining arm. Next his right arm is cut off, but the knight still does not concede. As the Knight is literally disarmed, Arthur assumes the fight is over and kneels to offer a prayer to God. The Black Knight interrupts Arthur's prayer of thanks by kicking him in the side of the head and accusing him of cowardice. When Arthur points out the Black Knight's injuries, the Knight insists "'It's just a flesh wound!" In response to the continued kicks and insults, Arthur chops off the Black Knight's right leg. At this point, the Knight still will not admit to defeat, instead he replies by saying, "Right, I’ll do you for that", and attempts to ram his body into Arthur's, by hopping on his left leg. Arthur is incredulous at the Black Knight's persistence, and angrily asks the Black Knight if he is going to "bleed on me" to win. The Black Knight replies by saying, "I'm invincible!" to which Arthur replies "You're a loony!" With an air of resignation, Arthur finally cuts off the left leg as well and sheathes his sword. With the Black Knight now reduced to a mere stump of a man, he says, "All right, we'll call it a draw." 3
noitom Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Chalerm is back in the spotlight, and he knows how to kick ass in Thailand. Charlerm will get this festering boil pushed up to its head fast. Chalerm is a genuine Thai leader.

bigbamboo Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 How did Chalerm get so much power? He knows where the bodies are buried..... metaphorically speaking of course.
chrisrazz Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Good Cop, Bad Cop. All in the same bottle. 2

rubl Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I didn't pay any attention for more than two day. What's this CMPO? Does it work instead of the CAPO or parallel to it?
ggold Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Mr Chalerm said supporters of the protests will have their assets confiscated if they are found guilty by the National Counter Corruption Commission. He's going to need bigger jails. Arresting all those lining the streets giving Suthep money! Wonder if The NACC would actually prosecute these people, they can hardly be called corrupt for making donations to the PDRC.
ggold Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 I didn't pay any attention for more than two day. What's this CMPO? Does it work instead of the CAPO or parallel to it? It's a way of shifting the blame onto Chalerm and gives the shin clan time to evacuate when the time comes!

rubl Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 If this all does end in a bloody Coup, i hope this clown is the first to get a bullet... he is the most vile person in Thai politics (with the possible exception of the desert coward) Agreed, and I do like the "Desert Coward" description. I'm no fan of care-taking MoL Pol. Captain Chalerm, but to wish a bullet on him? Still hoping that if we get a coup it will be a bloodless one like on the 19th of September 2006. The chances to a coup may grow, but the chances of a bloodless one seem to diminish only. Latest is Ms. Thida again with her warning of 'others' trying to create a situation leading to a coup and continuing with ""The current situation is like (we) are waiting for a coup as the army has clearly stated that they will intervene if any violence occurs," said the UDD leader." Of course no violence will be forcoming by those loveble, peaceful anti-anti-government protesters. BTW who remembers that the caretaker government led by Pheu Thai undemocratically tried to push through an blanket amnesty bill, one which would absolve all about 2010 and eight more years around it? 2
