Katipo Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 "She will be summoned to hear the charges on February 27". Who wants to bet she won't turn up? Thaksin in Dubai, Suthep still running around like a raving loony, the Red Bull Heir....ummm... somewhere, a certain Deputy PM's son now in the police after a 'stint' abroad. It's not like there isn't a precedent for the rich and powerful getting away with pretty much everything. 2
Popular Post Scamper Posted February 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) This is a very serious charge, and for those who have been long familiar with this scandal and the intrigues behind it recognize that this moment is long overdue. It is a stark contrast to what is happening on the streets. This administration can use every means of force at its disposal, but they will be powerless in a court of law. It will be fascinating to see how Yingluck defends herself in court. She will have no minders, no cue cards. At the end of the day, the evidence will speak for itself. And this administration will be evicted on the merits of it. Edited February 18, 2014 by Scamper 3
Popular Post Bkkbound Posted February 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) About time, enough of this Shin family farce, time to put her in jail and issue the international arrest warrant for the Tak boy, he,s been allowed too much free reign, the rest of the shin family assets, kids ex wife , inlaws, servants should be frozen.. Take them all down Saddam style. They deserve it. JP Edited February 18, 2014 by Bkkbound 4
GarryP Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Will the next Shinawatra please step up to the podium for their turn at running the country... That might well be Somchai Wongsawat, seen today on TV depositing money in a GSB branch accompanied by the venerable Prompong Nopparit and Charupong Ruangsuwan and other PTP luminaries. Strange to see them depositing their ill-gottens in a government bank, normally these sort of people are taking money out to store in safes in their own homes. It gives them the opportunity to launder gains made from their rice trading activities. Kill two birds with one stone.

Marginal holdings (5 rai or less) considered as "near landless" holdings represent 9% of total holdings. Region wise, the Northern region has proportionately larger holdings than the Central Plain and the Northeast. Popular Post djjamie Posted February 18, 2014 Popular Post Posted February 18, 2014 Shes only being charged for negligence? That seems like a awfully minor charge. In her capacity as chairwoman of the National Rice Policy Committee the "neglect of duty" would be the most appropriate charge I would have thought. As chairwoman she has the overall responsibility for the scheme and any corruption within it is because of her neglect. That cannot be highlighted enough considering she did not attend one single meeting. The way she handled (or in this case didn't handle) the warnings from government officials and international bodies regarding the corruption in the scheme does not show her in a pro active light either. I honestly don't think she knew about the corruption in the scheme, well the specifics anyway. thaksin would not have allowed her to be aware of the specific corruption in the scheme a/ to protect her and b/ because she could let something slip in an unscripted interview which are sometimes unavoidable when leaving parliament to rush to your car. They are filling corruption charges against former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyapirom, former deputy commerce minister Poom Saraphol and 13 other individuals involved in the scandal though. They are the ones that dealt directly with the "nuts and bolts" of the scheme and the non existent G2G deals. It is ironic that thaksin was shielding her from the corruption in the scheme and it turns out that shielding her is what is going to bring her down. Though if she knew about the specifics of the corruption she would have done nothing anyway. Blood is thicker than water. When yingluck is banned from politics for 5 years this should be a lesson for yinglucks sister, yaowapa wongsawat (who was also banned for 5 years from politics) when she is nominated by thaksin as the next PM. If yaowapa can't stay on the straight and narrow then it should be a lesson for Thaksin's son, Panthongtae Shinawatra when he is next in turn as PM. 6
DLock Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 'Anti-graft agency resolves to charge caretaker PM for neglect of duty in rice pledging scheme case, summons her to hear charges on Feb 27 /MCOT' hey, is it a corruption charge, or is just 'neglect of duty' ? well, not so familiar with these Thai legal expression . . . It's neither. real media who are not supporting and angling for a coup are stating the following. "She is not charged, the phrase means she is being informed of allegations being made against her" So, no charges and nothing imminent judicial coup wise. Pity all you clever people who support suthep have no thai friends and don't know anything about the confilct other than Bluesky and Nation propaganda. Faithful to the end... I grant you that. She is being summonsed to hear charges against her. Anti-graft agency has resolved to charge her. So she's not being charged? Sure? How do you get to your conclusion? He's been here 3 days. That qualifies him to be an expert on Thai politics. Newbies...god bless their simplistic and ignorant views of the world.

They have probably chinese ,malays and indian friends who are unable to speak Thai fluently despite feeling the owners of this country ;-) Anyway, if there was any wrongdoing ,it's true she has to bear the responsability too, but in front a real democratic system not in front of a gang of thugs with his wanna-be-dictator Suthep threating to kidnap her children and running free and even protected. Unfortunately in Thailand this seems impossible. Now many Thais feel desperate because they see only bad options, hence these widespread expressions of resignation of their faces. That's makes me feel sad , seeing how Thais are losing their traditional smile.... Edited February 18, 2014 by max72

There may be a couple more charges which some would not call "minor" if the oppsition are on the ball. Non payment on a promisary note for rice may be defined as fraud, by some. Doing business with companies/agents which were and are blacklisted may also have some legal pitfalls for the caretaker PM and her, for want of a more descriptive term, 'henchmen'. Now that a proper notice has been given, will she be confined to stay within the boundry of Thailand, give up passport, or what ever DSI, or Charlem's peace group, do in their spare time? 2

max72 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) The best solution for Thailand: Everybody out ! Let 's take a panel of young talented University graduated to run this country. People between 30 and 40 without any political experience or affiliation. A government of technicians: economists, graduated in political science, medicine, law, etc... I mean a government of "nerds" ...young guys with pimples and eyeglasses. Tough guys who know what is working, sacrifice, etc and with great dosis of talent in their areas. It can't be worse than now.... Edited February 18, 2014 by max72

ramrod711 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 BANGKOK, February 18, 2014 (AFP) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra will be charged with neglect of duty over a rice farm subsidy scheme and could be removed from office if found guilty, an anti-graft panel announced Tuesday. This is an interesting charge, are they talking about her real duty, or her idea of what that duty is, or was. She was, and is, under the impression that she was to look pretty, travel to lots of countries, shop as much as possible, and send her brother as much money as possible. You couldn't convict her of dereliction by her definition.
mrtoad Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Taxi for Poo, Dubai next stop no doubt. Now the murder charges will also start.
scorecard Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 if shes forced out of office it will kick off big time ,they wont stand for another PM forced out of office ,BKK will be like a war zone '...forced out of office...' Impeached / dismissed are surely more accurate words given the charges and the very obvious evidence.

However, if you're a hanging around drinking Lao Khao in deepest darkest Nakhon Nowhere your view may well be clouded. Welcome back Pipkins. 2
