Rough weather in the Gulf of Thailand is thwarting attempts to re-float an oil tanker that ran aground on January 9.

SONGKHLA: -- A sand-suction boat was deployed to create a water channel on the beach to allow the oil tanker Orapin 4 to move back to sea off Songkhla. However, the operation came to a temporary halt as the sand-suction boat was forced to take shelter at Nu Island amid strong winds.

The Meteorological Department has forecast rough seas in the area until Sunday.

You cant rush these things.

First you need a few politicians to decide how much they can pocket from this accident rolleyes.gif

Then you need to gather some locals to point at the ship for photographic proof it happened giggle.gif

they should be re-floating around the high tides for the month. can't think why they are there now,

the driver fell asleep at the wheel - sound familiar

Did the captain flee? Was he Thai?

Most likely Thai, as the ship is Thai registered: http://www.shipspotting.com/gallery/photo.php?lid=585113

Therefore, they have ran aground under a flag of convenience; rather than the flag of inconvenience if this had occurred in another country. Which must mean they don’t have to explain anything !

Brake failure?

Wet road sea?
