Redshirts activists punch a monk who voiced his displeasure at their dismantling of rival political rally stage in Nonthaburi province, 24 March 2014

BANGKOK: -- Redshirts activists have dismantled the rally stage set up by anti-government protesters in Nonthaburi province today.

Supporters of the People's Committee for Absolute Democracy With the King As Head of State (PCAD) have previously installed a rally site, complete with loudspeakers and a stage, near the office of the National Anti-Corruption Commission in the province.

But pro-government Redshirts under the name People's Radio for Democracy (PRD) later arrived at the scene, and proceeded to dismantle the rally stage.

A leader of the PRD claimed the operation was meant to "seize back" the area from anti-government "rebels". The PRD has held rally in front of the NACC office in the past to protest the Commission's corruption case against Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

Although no PCAD supporter was present at the rally site at the time of the incident, fistfights erupted when a monk approached the Redshirts before berating them for their actions and making other impolite remarks to the activists.

Some of the Redshirts became enrgaged and mobbed the monk, who was later rescued from the angry mob by police officers.

RT @RichardBarrow: According to Thai media sources, the monk was returning from a funeral when he was attacked by Red Shirts. He was on his way back to Isaan.

Oh so red apologists are going to say this was a fake monk and a PRDC member? Or perhaps it's 'fake' news from Facebook. Oh wait! There's a video!

Red democracy at its best! Imagine how things will be when they start having their own militia! bah.gif

May those nasty people meet with their bad karma !

Sickening. I hope this video goes viral all over the world. and bring shame to the perpetrators. They need to realize that this kind of behavior is unacceptable and is not going to solve anything.

In another time, some of those same people would have happily followed Pol Pot. Kampuchea Year Zero - they would have fit right in.

I thought that cheering the murder of innocent children was as low as this would get

......... apparently there's more to come

PDRC beats up an armed terrorist who shot an innocent protester and were booed by the red brigage, let's see how will they justify this.

Profoundly outrageous, and yet oh so predictable. Cowards all. There were no PDRC members present. Just a Buddhist monk. That was fine as far as the red shirts were concerned. They had someone they could beat up and pretend they could be courageous and valiant. Even Khaosod doesn't attempt to put a spin on this. Although it is becoming increasingly suspicious that they - among all the news organizations - just " happen " to be at a rally site populated by no one except red shirts and a single, solitary Buddhist monk. There they are to take pictures and to report a story.

Yingluck's peacefull supporters at it again Chalerm will say only they were acting .

I hope the monk presses charges and all of those involved in the assult end up in jail serving as Bubba's little princess.

Not the first time they have attacked Buddhist monks.

Some time back they set fire to the accommodation of the monks at a temple.

I posted photos of it on here at the time.

Thai monks should keep to doing monk-like things and keep their nose out of politics. Amazing all the Thaivisa experts having an orgasm over this. Didn't see much written by these same exerts over the taxi driver beaten into a coma by PDRC or the under cover police beaten by PDRC guards and then interrogated by that rat- bag monk who set up the stage at Chaeng Wattana.

What is this country coming to? Of all the things in Thailand that were supposedly revered and sacrosanct, Buddhsit Monks are right up there at the top.

Condemn me all you want, but to me this just goes to prove once again that of all the "sides" in these protests over the years, it's the reds that consistently and most often stoop to the lowest of low acts. There is little they won't do to please their bosses and seem to be often uncontrollable when in a group of 3 or more. If you want to use the word "thug(s)", this is the most perfect example of it.

A bunch of cowardly, scum, lowlife thugs, pure and simple.

Can one imagine the violence towards a 'normal' member of the public for berating the Redshirts ?

Were the red shirts charged with assault?

Were they charged with breaking up a protest that is their democratic right?

The UDD ethos is when they don't have the voice of the majority anymore ensure that same voice is no longer heard.

The Red shirts at their 2010 best.

These red idiots would have probably done the same thing to him they did to the soldier they pulled out of the truck in 2010 if the police hadn't intervened. Let's hear it red apologists, defend your democracy heroes.

As the new leader of the peacefull democracy loving reds I expect Jutaporn will hold a news conference any minute now denouncing this violent act followed by the same statement from Yingluck.

Let's see now what is Thai police going to do about this particular case. Most of culprits are caught on the video. Surely beating a Buddhist monk in the broad daylight in supposedly Buddhist country must be some sort of a crime. Or maybe some people are allowed to beat innocent people up based on their support for the caretaker government? I don't know, you tell me.

Again the courage of Thai "men" are shown. "Lets gang up like women and beat up a monk!" (Because chances are the monk would beat the shit out of them, if they confronted him one by one) Fxxking Whimps!

No wonder there are so many ladyboys in this country.

Yingluck's peacefull supporters at it again Chalerm will say only they were acting .

No doubt there will be silence from those two.....and the rest of the PTP....!!

Very low!

No violence is acceptable, but 20 thugs beating the crap of a monk on his way home from a funeral ... Really?

Actually, I guess from a group that will happily cheer the murder of innocent children, then beating a Monk is probably small potatoes.

Absolute heroes I'm sure

Didn't the reds in neighboring countries outlaw religion ? Normal MO for the color.

I would condemn this, were it to happen in Burma or Cambodia, that it happened here in Thailand is almost beyond belief.

How long will it take for Yingluck, Chalerm or Jatuporn, to condemn the actions of these supposed red-Shirts ? wink.png

Breaking-down the stage of a protest not according with their views, that's just normal Red-Shirt behaviour under 'true democracy', but beating-up a monk is way beyond that. bah.gif

Do you know if the monk even said anything about politics? Even if he did, does that make it OK that the red shirts beat him up?
