Here's the nice light uppy display on the Midea

And the ugly silver stripe on the Haier....though nice to see the 4digit helpline sticker on the end

Then oddly it seems on Lazada website it has a same spec with no stripe and 10500 bt instead of 9999

Questions to self:

Buy local for a tad more?

Buy Lazada and avoid the stripe?

Worry about Casualbiker's noisy switch off.?

Or get the nice Midea and lose a few BTU?

BTW it seems to be 5 years for the compressor and 3years on "parts" whatever exactly that means

You missed an option:

Spend a little more and get a higher quality unit, that's not noisy and saves on electricity bills.

If used routinely, these cheap AC's are a false economy.

I generally think like that....I just bought two Daikin inverters for a rental unit but as this one will have less use and in fact I don't have any figures which tell me about noise or elec savings I shall take the cheaper course here.

I read that Midea spend 3% of revenue on R and D and are the biggest exporter of air cons in the world......for all I know they have better figures. If not it'll still do.

Noise (dBA) levels of both the indoor and outdoor units are standard specifications for AC's - all of the mainstream brands will give you these specs. If your manufacturer isn't providing them, there's possibly a reason why they don't want to publish them.

Seems like a reasonable idea.

Daikin:

I've gone to Daikin.

Tried Daikin Thai and can't get a search result for "noise levels" or "decibels"

Midea:
Entered the Midea model number in search on their global site and got

Haier:

I went to Haier website and searched the model number.

Download the catalog and look at the specifications section, e.g.

i went for a foot massage on the way home.

I noticed the aircon was a Haier exactly looking like the ones without the stripe. Apparently two years old.

It was a wee bit loud but I noticed it was on full fan.

I started pressing the fan button on the remote to turn it down and nothing happened.

Not a good start.

Are you sure it was not set for dry mode by chance? Suspect fan control might not be usable in that mode.

Now there's a point

They say a lie goes three times round the world before the truth gets its boots on

These decibel figures ain't exactly easy to find on the internet will see if I can get them in Siam tv.

In fact wife told me one of the busiest aircon suppliers is the other side of the moat ear the park may try there

  • 2 weeks later...

Back on the case and cash in hand...a couple of points worth knowing:

Midea is a huge company.

Midea offer the longest guarantee, 5 yr parts on the inside unit, 7 yr on the compressor

I called them to check breakdown procedure and got a perfect English speaker who is sending details (I dare say there are conditions and omissions)

haier is very low end consumer stuff, i wouldn't buy a haier AC, they are notoriously poor quality

Have discarded Haier.

Will either try a Midea or use the usual, Daikin......but there's a very considerable price difference, so will be interested to check conditions of guarantee on ?Midea as labour is cheap it's the parts which can cost.

I changed to (forgot the name) routers which were far the cheapest but had a lifetime no questions asked guarantee went there with a problem once they just handed me a new one.

Notorious!! The buyers must not have enough money to post on the net then!
