With over 700 aftershocks, that is averaging out to almost 4 aftershocks PER HOUR! The subduction is obviously still occurring and has not stabilized yet. Dogs must be going nuts up there as ours barks most times there is a bigger one that is felt down here.

Our dog dont care - earth quake,thunder and lightning - only way I can see he react is that he stay close to me and my wife when he feel we are scared.

Yesterday it was different and I do not know why..normally he runs out as soon as we open the door but yesterday right after the 5 quake he refuse and sat right next to me for the next hour or so.

We were on our way to CR Regional Hosp and decided to stop at Wat Ron Khu. At 11:00 this morning. Shortly after we got there... Shake Shake.

Coudln't see any (new) damge - we left shortly thereafer.

Noticed that 3 of them-1 at 1,9-1 at 2,7 and the one at 3,8 came whit in 19 min.

Just talked to some family in Mae Suai they say some of the roads there is damaged pretty much to...also saw damage at a road in Wieng Chai today.

I am travelling from Phayao to Chiang Rai on Thursday. Has there been any damage reported on this road? We pass through Phan.

Highway 1 through Phan has no (visable) damage - passed through there yesterday. Highway 118 just west of Mae Lao is being repaired - the only impact now is you have to slow down for about 400 meters.

Concrete takes a while to reach any kind of strength but that is still a bit surprising.

The only collapsing building reference I have seen so far was for a building in Surin but maybe something local will show up later. I hope it wasn't Chiang Rai area.

Little biddy aftershock this morning, May 14, about 5 am.

Many aftershocks, since the initial tremor. I'd guess about 20 that I felt. Unusual to have so many.

sensitive machines can pick up hundreds of after-shocks, all along the 'ring of fire' and outlying regions, every day. I was referring to what I felt. I'm not as sensitive as a machine, are you?

Felt 2 small ones last night - the one aboput 20 minutes after midnight slightly more substantial.

Somehow this minor one made N.A. news and I got phonecalls. They knew nothing of the big one on the 5th or anything since. News. Oh well.

Does anyone now if Chiang Rai is in a subduction zone? Never realized that earthquakes in those areas stay so centralized.

(From the web: Subduction zones are the junctions where two lithospheric plates join. Any movement towards or away from each plate results to faults which cause earthquakes.)
