CAPO warns state enterprises of repercussions ahead of planned strike



BANGKOK, 19 May 2014 (NNT) – The Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) has warned state enterprise workers of breaking the law, if they plan to participate in a labor strike in support of the People’s Democratic Committee (PDRC).

The CAPO has issued another official statement urging cooperation from the State Enterprise Workers' Relations Confederation (SERC) regarding a planned 5-day work strike on May 22nd.

SERC secretary-general Komsan Thongsiri released a statement over the weekend that all state enterprises would rebel against the Thaksin Regime and other officials in the current administration.

The agency said that as protest leader Suthep Thuangsuban and other PDRC core leaders have been charged with insurrection and other crimes, the workers’ participation in their activities will be regarded as illegal.

The CAPO added in the statement that as state enterprises are key drivers of economic growth, any work stoppage could seriously harm the state of the country’s economy, which has already been worsened by the ongoing political turmoil.
The CAPO has also invited executives of all state enterprises to attend a meeting with officials this Wednesday to discuss the political situation.

That's quite a mild treat by CAPO's usual standard. Maybe they are seeing the error of their ways or maybe Charlem was too drunk to write the press release himself.

CAPO has this crazy notion that just because people follow the idea that Suthep represents does not mean they follow Suthep. From all I gathered the people only listen to him because they are tired of the Thak regimemt running the show and dont know any way to get them out. They dont agree with all Suthep says and does. So how can CAPO charge anyone for acting on a suggestion and how can CAPO prove they are doing it on Sutheps orders. A general strike for labor issues or sick for a few days would accomplish a lot.

Since when does having charges slapped on you equate with illegality ? Isn't there a step missing between issuing a charge and being convicted of it - hence being found guilty of it ? Isn't that something called a court ? Is CAPO of the opinion that they can come up with simply any wild charge, issue it, and regard as it as automatically illegal ? ( Yes ).

Here we go again. These " meetings " with Chalerm scaring and shaming everyone who attends. This is a free society. There are unions, There are workers. They can strike or not strike as they please. Unless a court of law actually deems it to be illegal, there is nothing illegal in striking. It is a right. Just earlier, the " administration " released a confident dispatch that there would be no strike. Just two hours later, they are threatening companies, unions, and workers. The right to strike has mysteriously disappeared under Pheu Thai. Labour strikes are out. All forms of civil disobedience are out. Protests are out. Disagreement with Pheu Thai is now called insurrection.

If the railways, electricity generation, waterworks, expressways etc. Stop working then it will be a major issue for Thailand. Tourism, industry, agriculture, getting food on your table, water in your cup and shower etc. Are all distinct possibilities.

Two can play this game. If the fascist PDRC manages to force out the elected government and install a dictator, I'd be surprised if the UDD don't have a few civil disobedience tricks in their kitbags - and they'd have the support of the wider world, much of which also believes in democracy.

Or perhaps, heavens forbid you got it wrong and that these people do not consider bought votes, nepotism on a scale never seen in the last 100 years, corruption and robbing of the national treasury as 'democracy' !

Today you want to sack all state enterprise workers for exercising their democratic right to protest. So that's one democratic principle down the drain.

You wanted to sack all civil servants yesterday because they have a different belief than the PTP. That is another democratic principle down the drain.

The other day you wanted to sack all the NACC and CC judges because you did not agree with their rulings. That is another democratic principle down the drain.

So you will disrespect 14 democratic principles to push for 1 (elections)

Would that be the same decent hard working people whose farming lives have been trashed by a Government who has stolen the very grain from under their nose. The people on the poverty line who should have been paid for their hard toil in September and here we are 8 months later and they are still not paid, and have been told everyone should be paid 'by the end of the year' !!

And why is that? Suthep? - No, the yellows - no, the inconvenient truth is that the rice pledging coffers are completely empty because the senior members of Government have stolen some 600 Billion + baht. Nothing to do with striking Government workers or occupied Government offices, it is because the nest is overwhelmed with pigs and thieves. If you and your 'peer group' are unable to see that plain fact then there really is no hope for you.

So yes there would be plenty of hard working folks (the ones forced into abject poverty by Thaksin's regime) to take the place of the Government workers. Whether they could add 2+2 is a different matter, mind you there seem to be plenty of Government workers in the same boat, how else could they get 200 Billion + 600 Billion = 350 Billion?
