Stradavarius37
<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> democracy does not work here.. .there are elections and one party does not like the outcome and attempts to have the results overturned. they succeed and now the army is in power.. perhaps the army should stay in power, so the elite city dwellers can continue to oppress the poor who will have no voice because the popular vote, the majority vote is not accepted by the losers... . who will always have some excuse to invalidate the results they dont like ... like the voters were bribed...or someone was promised this or that... so the perfect becomes the enemy of the good. until the poor decide to riot and anarchy ensues and the chaos rules. and the cycle repeats itself as those who fail to learn from history ... democracy will never work here Nice first post - fair and balanced. Thai army is a private army for the rich - but they are to stingy to pay for them so they use our tax money instead! 3rd world Banana republic army! You still just don't get it. This whole thing is nothing to do with democracy. It is just one very rich group trying to take power from another very rich group so they can put their snouts in the trough. All the little people are just pawns kept ignorant and told a lots of b**sh**.

Popular Post SheungWan
Just think - if they stupid Shiniwatra clan had actually proposed a moderate rice policy, and NOT tried to get an amnesty for Thaksin - PTP would still be in power and none of this would have happened. I bet there are a lot of folks saying. WT F did we do? We had it all! Morons. They are not really a clan. There is only one man at the centre of the web and that is Thaksin. Popular Post GentlemanJim
<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script> I could understand all this if the intention was to lock them all in a room until they had a solution that they were all agreed on.But its a job to understand where all this is goingSent from my Nexus 4 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app I think this coup was staged far too early. It looks like the general is used to getting things done quickly and doesn't understand the slow process of negotiation. The martial law was fine and maybe could have been earlier as it could stop more bloodshed and allow things to cool to give time for talks. It's a pity in some ways that Yingluck isn't still caretaker PM. She's no worse than could be expected without any experience but she does seem to be less confrontational. If they could have got her into negotiations without access to Thaksin then they might have got somewhere. If it were her and Abhisit who is also more likely to compromise than Suthep that might have brought results. Maybe they'll try to do something to encourage talks now they've shown they're serious. I won't hold my breath though. I hear ya, but I do think that the Military showed real constraint. The political impasse and the hamsterwheel negotiation style has been going on for months. By all accounts Prayuth was very reasonable. He was talking with the caretaker Government asking "will you resign so that reforms and elections will take place" and they said 'no', so he turned to his Officers and effectively said "implement plan B - now", he told all present that in that case he "was taking control". All seems fair to me.

What makes you think Interpol are going to take any more notice now that Thailand is in the throes of a coup? Simple. Interpol were never actually asked to do anything, the paperwork wasn't submitted because deals were made behind closed doors. Prayuth is far from being an idiot. He knows who the one person is that still has the ability to cause endless problems, Thaksin. So I believe that avenue will be pursued strongly now. He's sick and tired of the kids behaving badly.
ATF
....and there is no corruption in the armed forces.... There is a big difference between corruption and commission. Commission is received in exchange for performing a contract to full specs at the contractors expense. Corruption is involved when said contract is performed at the expense of standards. PM Banharn understood this concept very well that is why you have high quality Expressways built all over Bangkok. The Yingluck Government used Public Funds as incentives to procure votes. That is corruption.
