My thai girlfriend is currently in uk on vv. If there is no change in her circumstances is it relatively easy to get a second visitor visa at the end of her stay or are there any rules that may prevent her from applying for a second visitor visa?

Unless there have been any significant changes in her or your circumstances since the first visit visa was granted, then she should find it easy to obtain a second one. However, remember that she will have to return to Thailand to apply.

Also, it is extremely unlikely that she would get a second visit visa if it meant that she could spend more than 6 months out of 12 in the UK.

I second what GU22 says here as from your post it seems that she is looking to apply at the end of this stay - that would not be possibile as she would then be here for more than six months out of 12 ! That really would send them into a tizzy!
