I have an outlet with three openings one of which is a legitimate ground. The problem is all the new refrigerators have two pin plugs with a separate green wire that I'm supposed to attach to a grounding screw on the back of the refrigerator. Where can I attach the other end to the outlet ground? Or to be more specific how to attach it?

Get a 3-pin plug, they are nowhere near as difficult to find as in the past.

Then, either connect the green wire to the ground pin and plug into another outlet, or chop the 2-pin plug (watch your warranty) and put all 3 wires into the 3-pin.

Crossey do you mean some type of adapter plug that has a ground screw? that would be perfect but i haven't seen one like that.

i prefer not to cut the existing plug for warranty reasons.

Buy a three pin plug and connect the ground wire to it and plug into adjacent socket - using attached two pin plug for electric supply.

L3 has the idea, re-reading my last post, maybe I'd not had enough coffee :)

In the past I've dismembered one of the surge arresting adaptors (3-pin) and brought out a green wire from the ground, plug the appliance into the adaptor, you don't lose an outlet then.

That would be very harsh if they invalidated for that, but then again this is LOS
