NACC says ex-PM Yingluck is second richest among former cabinet members
By Digital Content

BANGKOK June 27 -- The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) announced Friday that former deputy prime minister Plodprasop Suraswadi was the richest person in the previous government followed by ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

NACC said after leaving the post on May 7, Mr Plodprasop had assets totaling about Bt967.5 million followed by Ms Yingluck with Bt574.3 million.

Another former deputy prime minister Pol Gen Pracha Promnok was the third richest minister, as his assets stood at about Bt367.5 million, followed by ex-deputy defence minister Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapa with Bt306.7 million and ex-labour minister Pol Capt Chalerm Yubamrung with Bt171.2 million.

NACC said Ms Yingluck’s assets which she stipulated in her report and submitted to the agency did not include luxury watches that were under NACC investigation of whether or not she has failed to declare them.

A senior official at the NACC said Ms Yingluck had informed the agency earlier that she had sold the expensive watches and bought ornamental goods before she took up the post and therefore she decided not to report them in her statement.

But the NACC believed the information given by Ms Yingluck was insufficient and planned to request she provide additional information to the agency, said the NACC official. (MCOT online news)

Methinks Chalerm has more than that in just a few of his cars! laugh.png

This is not the first time for Mr. Chalerm. He was found to excessive wealth in the 90's, than he went to Northern Europe and waited for everything to cool down.

Poor old Charlem, a career of corruption and only 171 million to show for it. Even young Akanat who is barely out of diapers is nearly ahead of him.

OK, so tell me just "how" they accumulated all those assets . . . companies, businesses, gifts, shares, stocks? How exactly did they manage to get so much . . .

How about the Junta declare their assets in the interest of less corruption and transparency?

What were these people worth 3 years ago?

In financial terms or their value to society?

One of those hasn't changed one iota.

Some report their assets, some don't.

Don't worry for Chalerm. We have seen in other threads how Thaksin's aides are rewarded.

Don't worry for him, it's just is official asset......

EC and NACC will ask him about CAPO extra budget.......

Well, at least those persons who were on the other side of the political divide that we hear little about nowadays perhaps?

I can hardly see all the generals, admirals ,etc wanting to declare their assets.Just as many skeletons as others.

I have said this for years. Never say a word, and get a list of the bank accounts of every single

person holding office. Or formerly in this case since the coup . Starting with Plodprasop , bring

them in for questioning and ask them where the money came from. He would be a great start,

as the phrase government salary and the phrase 967 million baht do not go together well.

This is the same test the IRS does in America. Meaning if the IRS catches you holding a whole

lot of money that you cannot explain where it came from, that means you stole it.....

Cannot believe Chalerm has done so poorly at only 171 million baht. Or as a long time political

hack who had been investigated for unusual wealth in the past, he perhaps is more clever

and has his money off shore. Perhaps Plodprasop does not understand off shore banking....

Fantastic start. And can hardly wait for report on Suthep and his whole crew. Should be out any moment now..... blink.png Followed up by transparent report on wealth of various members of armed forces I am sure. They want to be fair and balanced in order to prove this coup was done for the good of all Thais regardless of political bent. Right?

A rude reply has been removed from view, along with an associated reply. Please be civil to other members. And remember we are still under martial law.

In terms of value to society, zero, nil, nothing - actually it would be a negative value.

In money terms, it would make for an interesting comparison.

It's reported in the other newspaper that the NCPO has tasked the public sector anti-graft body to make sure there's no corruption in the military.

In view of all the current restrictions i am simply posting this and keeping personal thoughts Personal I

How does a top policeman become one of the richest people in Thailand?

On a salary less than the primeminister's, this would beseech normal income routes, even if he has a business which is not logged.... and he does not!

Plodprasob the richest among ex-cabinet members : anti-graft agency

I saw a report as follows?:

- Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary general of the PDRC:

Assets: Bt210 million, including Bt3.57 million bank deposits, Bt177 million worth of land and Bt26 million worth of motor vehicles.

Liabilities: Bt323 million in debt, mostly in bank loans.

The real shame goes to the lack of check and balance and to a certain extend to the influential persons who implemented a system that makes the accumulation of such wealth possible while they are in official positions.

I wonder that none of them respects the oath they have to swear when taking office.

Gen Yuthasak Sasiprapha of 306,670,351.12 baht

Royal Thai Army pays well these days then?

These people will be remembered for their wealth, not their performance.

That is not exclusive for Thailand, the gab between rich and poor did grow everywhere in the world, this partly because of greedy and corrupt politicians who did deregulate the rules for corporates and Banks who have now the real power.

Very interesting about Military and Police Millionaires. Just to think I spent 26 years in USAF and all I get is 50% of what I was making, believe it is not millions !!

The place is more corrupt than I could have imagined !!

The other tink what in the "H" are Military and Police doing in Parliament ??
