AEC Centre should assume more tasks

BANGKOK: -- Pornsil Patchrintanakul, vice chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, supported the National Council for Peace and Order's initiative to set up the AEC Centre.

He said that this is in line with the chamber’s proposal, in pushing forward all Thailand’s policies concerning the Asean Economic Community (AEC).

He added that the centre’s task should cover non-Asean free-trade frameworks such as the Thai-EU free-trade agreement which has been stalled. Thailand should be ready to restart the negotiation immediately after the situation is right.

The proposal will be forwarded to the NCPO, he said.
