Sort of on topic, as it has been mentioned smile.png

Excuse my ignorance but what difference do USD forks make, apart from aesthetics ??

USD tubes are meant to be better because they are lighter and more rigid. The main disadvantage is that the oil seal is now at the bottom, so it's far easier and quicker to lose the oil and then the damping if a seal should go. The other disadvantage is that they cost more to make than normal forks.

I also like upside down forks because they usually have a light shield to protect the fork tubes from pitting caused by stones and mud thrown up by other vehicles.

Folks looking to possibly buy the Honda 300

should also take a look at the new Kawasaki singles IMHO wink.png

Power to weight is slightly better & HP/Torque near identical

Price is 118k for the naked & 121k for the ninja

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/756957-kawasaki-ninja-250sl-z-single-cylinder-now-available/#entry8332783

yes, very similar bikes, just honda has 300 cc engine a bit more grunt.

and honda cb300f is larger than kawa i remember. both wheelbase and dimensions. honda looks handsome and mature as usual and kawasaki sharp. honda made in Thailand and kawa made in Indonesia. i think Thailand better on production quality.

honda looks like a better real world bike than kawa IMO. especially for larger farang.

byt possibly, you get better handling from kawasaki single 250 ccs.

still one cannot go wrong with both these bikes.

Heheh that is something I never thought I would see

Thailand better on quality wink.png

As for a large farang should not matter as the Honda 300 & this bike are 99.9% identical in dimensions

same seat height etc & the Kawasaki only 1.9" shorter wheelbase

which is probably for sport handling but a tiny amount either way.

In fact all of these bikes, Ninja 250/300 Honda 250/300 Ninja/Z 250 SL

All quite identical in size

All have roughly 30.7"/780mm seat heights

54-55/1405mm wheelbases etc

The new wee Kawasaki definitely looks the part. But considering the HP claims versus the dyno results from previous bikes from them perhaps a bit of patience to see real world output (and weight) is in order before declaring a winner in the kg/hp category?

Because let's be honest....going from 5.6kg/hp (claimed) to 6.0kg/hp isn't all that big of a jump. Only 8%. Throw on a 75kg rider and the spread becomes 5%.

The flip side is that I would expect the Ninja to have shorter gearing Which should make it more fun in the city.

True although never easy to find Honda gearing specs as they dont list on Honda/powersports etc

But here is Kawasaki SL gearing

1st 3.000 (393/11)

2nd 1.933 (29/159)

3rd 1.444 (31/22)

4th 1.217 (28/23)

5th 1.045 (23/22)

6th 0.923 (24/26)

And Honda 300

1 - 3.416

2 - 2.250

3 - 1.650

4 - 1.350

5 - 1.166

6 - 1.038

but that is true Manialaugh.png i believe Thailand has more roots and experience on this sector than Indonesia.

and even with import taxes etc, price is still cheaper than Thai made Honda 300 series. why is that? lesser quality materials? or lower productions costs there? not sure.

and 5 cm wheelbase makes a difference imo especially for small bikes.

yeah also, we need to check though before speaking if they are really made in Indonesia or maybe they more the production to Thailand a bit?

and guys maybe we open another thread if we would like to compare these bikes? we are just derailing this topic right now.

lets open honda cb/cbr300 vs kawasaki sl / z 250 thread and do the comparisons there.

Good find. Assuming the numbers are correct (there are discrepancies on the Ninja's), than the Honda actually has shorter gearing. 13% in first, 16% in second, 14% in third, 11% in fourth, 11% in fifth and 12% in sixth.

Going back and assuming that Kawasaki's released weight & hp are realistic...the bikes should accelerate the same. As meaty as the frame looks on the Kawi, and the shorter wheelbase, could it finally stop Honda from winning races?

Well for this class size I only watch Moto3 GP

sadly there are only Honda's KTM's & Mahindra wink.png

It was a not so subtle dig at the Kawasaki fans where the Honda CBR 250s were cleaning their clocks at the Ninjette races State-side.

You know for that class engine size there has to be a good reason Moto3 goes single cylinder

I think it is critical class weight wise & also they can build a narrow focused bike around it.

While I do not like the thumper singles they do in fact get those Moto3 singles to sing

50+hp @ 9-14000 rpm

But of course short engine hours at those rpm's

no, it is not false advertising. the model of the bike is not cbr300cc rr or they never claim it is 300 cc too.

Let it go. 300cc class bike, name all the bikes that have exactly the same cc as their names suggest.

so lets name honda cbr250 as honda cbr249? c'mon. honda cbr 287r does sound odd a bit, no? just let it go.

man, bikers offer the best quality aluminum and design not in Thailand but nearly all around the world IMO.

the first part you have to buy from them i think is their sliders IMO. it is a good investment for your bike and they are quite sturdy with a nice design. you can even carry plastic bags on those sliders:) seriously, i was doing my weekly shopping this way and still use the same way on my cbr650flaugh.png

Protective parts have to come first!

i also used their rear set for cbr250 - actually i still have it! - and it was also very good.

i am also waiting for their clip on system for my cbr650f.

here is what i had on my cbr250r. i still have them wrapped in papers and waiting in a dry place including the Dan Moto pipe.

cbr250r and 300f chassis is the same so all fit. will sell them soon for cheap as at least someone can use them. if anyone interested, pm me.

attached some photos, just to give you and others an example on how nice these parts are looking! but certainly quality does not come cheap.
