I have a 42in TCL flat screen TV. 5years old.  After a power surge the other day its starting up time has gone from a few seconds  to

over a minute. The picture is as good as its always been.

Does the longer start up time mean that the life of the TV is coming to an end.

Is it really 5 years old?  I have two 32" models and the start up and channel change times have always very very slow so not sure it will effect your set life - perhaps the keep alive voltage is not working now so have to start from cold on each start - you might check that it is not switched off somewhere?  Could be just a setting got changed.

Could also indicate that some internal component was damaged by the power surge.

A TV repair place might be able to make it right again, or given it's age it might be better to buy a new set.

A TV shoukld last at least 10 years unless it's a Samsung then it expires just after the warranty.

Not for everyone, and I have 6.

Added: Correction - 7 but one is still under warranty.
