The DSI arrested two men masquerading as DSI officers.

PHUKET: -- Two men masquerading as DSI officers were arrested on Tuesday (August 26) for extorting B100,000 from the Angel massage parlour in Poonphon, Phuket Town in April.

At 1.00pm on Tuesday, Meaung police and Lt Col Korrawat Panprapakon, commissioner of Special Operations DSI, issued a press statement regarding the arrest of two suspects, Kanapat Kongmeang, 42 and Witsanusan Tippayatat, 47.

At 10pm on April 24, four suspects went into the massage parlour in Talad Neua to use the services, including sex and made a video of it.

The suspects then showed the video to the parlour owner and demanded B100,000 or the video would be posted online. The owner handed over the money as he didn’t want any bad publicity.

The owner later made checks into the four men’s claim to be from the DSI and found they were imposters.

Lt Col Korrawat of the DSI said, “Please contact the DSI headquarters if anyone claims to be from the DSI and demands money. DSI never demands money.”

The other two men are still being sought.

Hum, bad publicity? Or poor servicing? giggle.gif

Funny, if they were real DSI he would have written it off as a cost of doing business, but since they were imposters...........time for a refund.

so will the owner be indited for the sex business ?

You could not make this shit up!

That's probably what the impostors were thinking. He won't do anything about this because he'll be admitting to a crime if he does. I wonder if he got in trouble for reporting the fake DSI guys.

Mmmm, on one hand we have fake DSI investigating officers, on the other we have DSI officer who fake investigating. And lets not forget DSI officers who are corrupt. Seems Thailand needs someone to investigate the investigators.

A good result really. There has to be a point where the corruption issue turns the corner. I would think a lot of police etc. are being very careful now.

Did they get their money back?

Prices at Angel will go up now, unless you work for CSI Phuket

Would be interesting to know, how he found out that they were fakes ? Called a friend at the department ?

How dare they. Only real DSI are allowed to extort.

T

They should arrest the masseuses...for extorting money while holding your dong hostage....

Hahaha.

Only in Thailand I guess.

Similar things happen elsewhere. Google "Fake police arrested"

Research sometimes take the guesswork out of guessing

I think this is more good news.

It shows that the Thai businesses are beginning to have the confidence to report scams to an authority that will do something about it.

The days of pay up and shut up are fading fast.
