Hi guys,

First off I apologise if this has been covered before but I can't seem to find a specific answer to my question. I'll keep it brief:

  • My wife and I visited my parents in April this year and stayed for a month
  • I have just found out I have 3 weeks holiday over Christmas this year and I have thought about taking her to the UK again for this period

I remember reading about a rule whereby a tourist visa is only valid for up to 6 months (whether you want it or not) and that you can only spend 6 months out of 12 in the UK on this visa.

However, as we did not use up 6 months could she successfully apply for another visit visa to allow us to go again in December?

Thanks for any help guys, I would be lost without this forum :-)

No reason why not, she has only spent 1 month in the UK over the last 12...

If she had spent six months in the UK it would be different.

Hopefully you should have no problem in getting another visit visa.

Basil B is spot on with his answer, but be careful not to take things for granted.

Each application is treated on it's merit, so whilst the fact she has successfully had one trip in which she complied with the visa regulations will go in her favour, make sure she still submits evidence that the trip is genuine, affordable and she's likely to return home.

Thanks for the replies guys! smile.png

If we are able to go over Christmas it will be her third trip to the UK and every time not staying longer than we stated in the application..

Cheers again thumbsup.gif
