This will likely change the power structure in Patong. Changes were already starting, but this event might speed things up.

But is it really his body or a body double so he escapes a lengthy prison term? Has the deal been done?

The fewer people like him in Thailand, the better the country will be.

Maffia war under way?

Why would you think that?

He had already lost control by losing the election for Mayor of Patong.

Even the true Patong residents wanted change.

Pian made them all rich, but, at what cost to their environment?

More fuel to stoke the popularity of visiting Thailand.....what's becoming of this country ?

Let the conspiracy theories begin!!!!

I lived in Phuket from 93 to 98 and he was the guy to know if you wanted to get anything done in Patong.

Condolences to the family and hope he can RIP.

My name is not verily. It is John.

It's people like him Thailand needs to get rid of and prevent from coming back later, if Thailand wants to move forward. You can't have all these feudal lords ruling parts of thailand separate from Bangkok.

A polarizing figure to say the least.

"...to say the least."

And here at the hub-of-homespun-gossip, I'm sure posters won't stop at the least. I especially like the comment about a body double. Bar Stool Crime scene Investigation (BS-CSI) at its best ... hopefully tongue in cheek, but one is never sure here at TV.

Too late.

According to news reports who do actually follow up breaking news, he died from a reported fall at home and the emergency services were contacted at 11am this morning.

....is that how everything works around here...???

...scary....

Yes, that is how it works everywhere. You get old and you die.

You may scoff but compare this tale with the real events with convicted murderer, Kamnan Poh, who continued to live in his own house in Chonburi despite being sentenced to prison for murder while the Chonburi cops in his pay claimed to be unable to find him. This is after he had exhausted the appeals process. Maybe Pian Keesin has viewed that and decided to fake his own death. In this country, I view it not just as very possible but indeed likely.

Pian Keesin - loved by some, but a tyrant to many.

No love lost, no tears spilt. I don't even have any condolences for the family.

he and his brood have raped patong for the last 20 years, nobody could fart in Patong without Pian getting his 10-20%.

I just think it is a great pity that he went before judicial proceedings which would have seem him rotting to death in jail.

Good riddance i say.

RiP and condolences to his family.

No matter your opinion of him a little respect should be given.

A man has died today.

In southern Thailand, the new mindset precipitated by the Bangkok Elitists, the old motto of Land of Smiles is now Land of Greed.

This could be Thailands answer for the Mafia.

Beware Koh-Tao

Maybe a bit thats bad in Thailand corruption died. What I feel sorry for is all the people that were affected and otherwise by this corruption.

The big question in life isn't, "Why are we here?" it's "How can we stay longer?"... he clearly didn't know!

A fall at home, in theory. The suppositions will run far and wide.

He may not have retained the title after a fall from visible power, but the residual power may have been enough for some to still wish his falling further.
