joedot
They definitely were afraid he would rat them out since authorities were looking for him. They knew if they killed him he couldn't out them, and since Thai police rarely solve murders they were safe. No need for police to arrest a Burmese scapegoats either. This is more likely to be all about money, greed and criminal activity. The BIB must have done a great scene of crime job as they seem to know what happened and how many may have been involved. Of course there's a couple of OR's that could be added to that sentence.

If this is linked to the major smuggling ring involving very influential people as announced by the DSI how many more will die a la Mr. T's war on drugs when all those nasty dealers started killing each other to avoid being grassed up ? RKASA
Gunshot to the head and back is a clear sign of apperant suicide. Only if they jump from the fifth or higher floor after shooting themselves - this looks more like an accident running into the path of speeding bullets. After all - if shot in the back he could not have known the were coming and would have otherwise just moved out of the way.
