BANGKOK: -- Former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her son, Supasek Amornchat, left for Japan late Sunday night for a vacation.

She left on a Thai Airways International flight from the Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 10 pm to take her son for a vacation during the mid-year school holidays as she has promised him.

National Council for Peace and Order spokesman Col Winthai Suwari confirmed the former premier visit to Japan on personal affair saying permission has earlier been sought and was approved.

The spokesman said the permission by the military junta was based on her good cooperation with the military junta in the past, and that there was no concern about the trip as it was a personal affairs and she has personal right.

Ms Yingluck chaired the cremation ceremony of her Pheu Thai party executive member Col Apiwan Wiriyachai, also a leader of the redshirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, at Bang Phai temple in Nonthaburi Sunday.

".....a very popular ex-PM and even a good mother!"

Very nice sentiments and let's hope that is exactly how things remain.

Seriously?

What it tells me is Thaksin will be in Japan very soon.

Yesterday, Chalerm gave us the answer. Take Thaksin out of the picture (permanently) and the PTP, UDD and red <snip> will collapse.

Nonsense post and replies removed. Do not try and de-rail new topics with the first post being a stupid one liner.

The yellows make me laugh!

The mere mentioned of Yingluck sets of them off and so it should. She is still the peoples darling and choice.

Last time she went overseas the yellows claimed victory and that she would never return and they had a field day until they ended up with egg on their faces when she touched down to face her accusers .

All she has to do is step out the front door and it's a story that's how popular she is and the yellows should be worried none of them get the headlines Yingluck commands even if it's a trip to the supermarket.

She's holding up quite well actually and would easily get back into the top job because when you boil in down the yellow dems haven't much to chose from.

Delete the "very popular ex-PM" and you've described a large percentage of middle-aged Thai women.

I can think of one Thai that isn't coming back and another that came back in a box. Somewhat ironically the former PM has a close connection to them both.

Wonder if the kid will grow up to one day lead this country?

Wonder if the kid will grow up to one day lead this country?

He's got more chance than any of the Farangs on ThaiVisa.

The general slipped up a few times, Chalerm awoke from his coma, lil sis is going for stardom. Something tells be there will not be elections in a year from now.

Is that because of resident foreigner demands? rolleyes.gif

A good mother does not parade her child around as a show piece !!!

I don't see her parading him around just because the press is there.

Anyway take a good look at him he will probably be PM in 20 or so years!

You only have to be part of the Shin clan to knock off anything the dems put up!

Junta OKs Yingluck's Trip To Japan
By Khaosod English

BANGKOK — Former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra left for Japan last night after receiving permission from the military junta, its spokesperson said today.

Col. Winthai Suwaree, a spokesperson for the junta's National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), told reporters that Yingluck informed the regime before leaving for Japan with her son last night.

"But I will not disclose the details about her trip and date of return to Thailand, because it is personal information that should not be disclosed to the media," Col. Winthai said at the press conference.

Yingluck and her 12-year-old son Suphasek Amornchat left last night, her aides said, though the exact destination and purpose of the trip was not disclosed.

After staging a coup against Yingluck's government on 22 May, the NCPO stipulated that the former leader must seek permission before traveling abroad. The same requirement has also been applied to scores of other politicians and activists deemed to be sympathetic to Yingluck’s administration.

When Yingluck applied for permission to travel to Europe in July, shortly after a national anti-graft body found her guilty of corruption, there was intense speculation over whether she was trying to leave Thailand for good to avoid the charges.

Wonder if the kid will grow up to one day lead this country?

She had one chance, not sure if she will get a second.

Wonder if the kid will grow up to one day lead this country?

Wonder how many other kids may only dream of remotely getting a chance. 'equal by law' doesn't seem to have much effect on poor kids as our former Robespierre knew.

I don't see her parading him around just because the press is there.

Anyway take a good look at him he will probably be PM in 20 or so years!

He already has one big (democratic) advantage, he's a member of the Shinawatra clan. Enough money to be popular and without a need to be corrupt rolleyes.gif

I don't know what useful purpose all this chitter chatter amounts to but it seems a lot like hot air in large volumes!

I'm sure the Jap's would be grateful for a few lessons on ''Thainess '' while she's there !

Yes, and she will be in the history books as Thailand's first democratically elected female Prime Minister.

The current incumbent is just one more of a long list of military big-wigs imposed at the barrel of a gun.
