November 9, 201411 yr I just had a look at the Phuket News and Events page and noticed that there no fewer than 6 positive results involving the police on that one page! Way to go BIB! In all fairness, they have stepped up their game, since the army arrived. I say this with a caution, because the army are overseeing them, but that aside, I have noticed, in the media, the arrest rate seems to have increased, particularly in relation to guns, and that's a good thing. A positive thing. So there you go - a positive BiB thing. Also, I will admit, the beach encroachment action was surprising to me. However, once again, since when should the police doing their job be a surprise to anybody? In any case, personally, I hope the army stay, and they keep making sure the police do they job.
November 12, 201411 yr They are really targeting locals and Burmese at the moment. Today was the first checkpoint I went through where they were waving westerners through and stopping all Thais and searching. It's obviously increased security for the high season and beach games.
