BETONG: -- Three Southern insurgents responsible for a series of car bomb attacks in Betong which killed three people and wounded 42 on July 25 this year have been arrested, the Southern Border Police Operation Centre said today.

Operation centre commander Pol Maj-Gen Dusadee Chusangkit said the three suspects were arrested separately and all have confessed to have connection in three related incidents, car robbery and ambush in Yala, car robbery in Pattani which the driver was killed, and shooting in Songkhla which three villagers were shot dead.

After almost four months of investigation and examinations if all closed circuit video cameras ollowing the July 25 car bomb attack at Holiday Hill hotel in Betong, police have found that the southern insurgents first robbed a passenger van at Ban Bacho in Yala and drove it to pick up the bomb suspects in the team to Betong.

The van was parked in front of the hotel to reserve place for the pickup truck which the bomb was planted to rotate.

The pickup truck was stolen from Apiwat Chantaem who was shot dead at an abandoned fishing farm in Nong Chik district of Pattani on June 1 this year. The gun used in the shooting was also proved to have used in shooting three Buddhist people in Thepa district of Songkhla on November 1.

He said the three suspects, Sorbueri Hama, Marosari Jaebu, and Budeman Seele confessed to have connection in the three incidents, and also implicated three other accomplices.

Warrants were issued for their arrest, he added.
