toasted Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Chris Wilder has been announced as our new manager. He took Halifax to the play-offs in 2006 so has some level of success in this league. More recently he was assistant manger at Bury who are pushing for automatic promotion from division 2. Let's wish him well.
toasted Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Salisbury 2 - 1 Oxford More woe away from home, this time on Boxing Day. Oxford 5 - 1 Ebbsfleet Finally everything clicked and chances were put away.
toasted Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Oxford 2 - 0 Salisbury Revenge for the Boxing Day defeat at their ground. Two very well taken goals, James Constable is in fine form. Ricky Sappleton finished well against the keeper and looks like a good loan signing - thank you Leicester. Lewis Haldane missed an open goal and a one on one with the keeper. Most impressive was the defence, which seemed more cohesive and solid. Can the new manager affect a change in our away form - starting this Saturday at Eastbourne (who we thumped 6-3 at home back in August).
ThaiPauly Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Harsh guys. Sorry to read this. But after a few good results there is no chance of you going down,,,is there?
toasted Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Good grief. It will take an incredible run to make the play offs now.
toasted Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Crawley 0 - 1 Oxford Only our third away win of the season; only their third home loss of the season. That's five wins on the bounce. Away to Cambridge on Thursday evening. We must maintain this momentum.
Mossfinn Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 No Appeal But the chase for the play-offs continues.......
Mossfinn Posted January 27, 2009 Author Posted January 27, 2009 Happy Chrstmas to all you U's fans. How come you have twice as may viewings on your thread as Reading? OK.... never mind its still 100 times more than the Swindon thread gets Reason for edit...Smelling Pisstakes Happy New Year TP
toasted Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Oxford 2 - 1 Lewes An unconvincing performance but points make prizes. Incidentally, my son has, after this game, now seen us concede three penalties. Billy Turley has saved all three!
ThaiPauly Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 Incidentally, my son has, after this game, now seen us concede three penalties. Billy Turley has saved all three! I'm sure the OM or OJ or even the blasted Courier (if it's still going) would be interested in a story like that...the odds must be incredible
toasted Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I'm not sure about that, as two of the penalties were in the same match last year - the only Oxford game we managed that season. Still, my son plays goalie for his school, and Billy Turley is firmly cemented in place as his hero now.
toasted Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Oxford 3 - 0 Barrow Revenge is sweet. A very impressive win. Strong in defence, playing a passing game with the ball on the floor, Wilder's boys looked very strong today.
Kan Win Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Oxford v Mansfield Oxford winger Lewes Haldane serves a one-match suspension after picking up five yellow cards so on-loan striker Craig Farrell may start. Defender Damian Batt is a slight doubt with a rib injury but should be available for selection. Mansfield defender Scott Garner is available after a one-match ban. Striker Aaron O'Connor could again miss out through illness whilst defender Alex Jeannin remains sidelined with a foot injury. Yours truly is a Supporter Kan they Win today
Mossfinn Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 Both are on a six game unbeaten run, to be honest it has a low scoring draw written all over it. Moss
toasted Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Oxford 1 - 0 Mansfield A tight game, but Mansfield rarely threatened. A confident and patient second half for Oxford. The Wilder revolution comtinues. A big game next week at home to Torquay. 5.45 kick-off as it's live on Setanta.
suiging Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 What sort of crowds are you guys pulling in ?
Mossfinn Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Between 3K and 4.5, although have had a couple of 5Ks recently. Moss
Kan Win Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 Oxford 1 - 0 MansfieldA tight game, but Mansfield rarely threatened. A confident and patient second half for Oxford. The Wilder revolution comtinues. A big game next week at home to Torquay. 5.45 kick-off as it's live on Setanta. Well done Oxford and the Stags got toasted. Watch out for Ketteing boys, as they have a few game in hand over you with only 4 ponits behind. Yours truly, Kan did loose this time around Win
toasted Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Kan Win - Mansfield looked a tidy outfit last week. This may not be your season, but your performances since the change in manager should give you hope for the next one. Good luck. Torquay seem to be faltering a little at the moment. Fingers crossed for the big game this afternoon.
toasted Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Oxford 0 - 2 Torquay A 5,800+ crowd, but a poor display by Oxford. Torquay deserved their win.
Mossfinn Posted March 24, 2009 Author Posted March 24, 2009 Rushden 1 Oxford 3 Within two points of the play offs, too much too hope really Moss
ThaiPauly Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 It's a funny old game Moss....don't give up hope yet. I'm clinging with the romantic notion that we still may make automatic promotion......if we go into the play-offs we won't make it I'm sure...we always bottle it in the play- offs
Mossfinn Posted March 28, 2009 Author Posted March 28, 2009 Stevenage v Oxford The so called six pointer today. Good Luck Moss
Mossfinn Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 Oxford v Histon Histon 3rd in table and after 16 mins have just taken the lead. Moss
Mossfinn Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 I thought Turley had just be sent off, but apparently it is a Histon player. Thoughts from the radio, the goal was yards off side and an unfair sending off, things can only get better. Moss
ThaiPauly Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 They did....2-1 well done, Histon are a good side
toasted Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Histon scored while Foster (centre half) was off the pitch being patched up after being caught by a Histon elbow. Clearly an offside goal too. Mind you, Histon were clearly the better team when both teams had eleven men on the pitch. Turley, in my opinion, conned the ref for the Histon red card - he may have been caught but he went down like a sack of spuds, and then, after the red card, got up with a back roll and the ref looked pissed off at that! Crowd was 6,200 and a fantastic atmosphere. Fans sounding horns driving away from the stadium. It's still a long shot though.
toasted Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 York 0 0 Oxford Season over by the look of things, unless the likes of Torquay, Histon, Cambridge and Kidderminster really mess up. We hit the crossbar with the last kick of the game, but it wasn't a very good performance by all accounts. Things look good for next season, but didn't we think that after a good run under Patterson at the end of last season? Thai Pauly - Turley saved another penalty last night at just the time my son came in to check the score on the radio.
toasted Posted April 11, 2009 Posted April 11, 2009 Oxford 1 0 Wrexham Constable scores with almost the last kick of the game. Turley was lying down in his box with his head in his hands as we pressed forward. The stadium erupted when the header went in. Histon lost (again) and Kidderminster drew (again). It's squeaky bum time. Come on Oxford!
