Jomtien Beach Umbrellas

Now that the illegal chair people have been evicted and open space has been restored, thousands are now able to enjoy beach as it should be.

This is really hurting the chair rentals (see above photos)

Will the greedy vendors retake the beach to force us back into the stinky chairs I wonder?

Am I right in saying that there are now fines for littering in the beach areas--and the army are involved in the changes?

Not quite, there have always been fines for littering and have nothing to do with the changes or the Army. In fact, the dirtiest sections on the beach are the free public areas because nobody is responsible for maintaining the area and City lacks the resources to do so. The beach concessionaire as a condition of their license must main their area. My section of the beach is spotless. If you want trash go to the free area.

The vendors that illegally turned the beach into a dirty shanty town slum are keeping the beach clean?

They do sweep up but unfortunately bury the trash in the sand and the tide washes it away.

Funny.

Also I guess you were not aware of the big Jomtien cleanup ceremony yesterday and the large cleanup staff raking the nice new beach areas.

Those areas look like a postcard now. Nice.

On wednesday no beach vendors were seen , as promised so every wednesday you should tale this opportunity and walk along the beach , it looks much better, bring your own chair and something to drink and just chill on the beach.

Wednesday on Jomtien beach

Although Jomtien beach is not the best, I saw a big improvement on Wednesday without the shanty town spoiling it. A ride or walk along the beach was more pleasant as you could see the sea and sand.

There was plenty of shade from the trees, that survived the annual butchering, and the palm trees.

Unfortunately much of the shade was unusable because of the dumping of old umbrellas, rotting deckchairs, and inner tubes.

A few designated areas along the beach with umbrellas and sunbeds to order, each with a little space in between, rather than the blanket coverage idea I think would look better. This way if you want the open beach or an umbrella area you have a choice.

Just Thursday to Tuesday to sort out now biggrin.png

Farcical........wait till low low season kicks in when Beaches are completely deserted

Good , then maybe someone can start picking up all the garbage instead so we can have a clean beach before the next high season.

Like that scene so much go to Bang Saray. No beach chairs or people. A thousand or more people make there living along Jomtien Beach and all of us who use those chairs like them fine the way they are. Where I go the same family has been there for 35 years. How long have you been here? If you did not like the setup here why in hell's name would you choose to come here and not a place like Bang Saray that has virgin beach. There are always morons that move next to a railway yard or under an airplane takeoff route that complain about the noise.

There are also morons who think the whole beach should be covered in umbrellas just because it suits them.

Checked it on Thursday, rode down Soi5, than left and after ~100 meters, there was gap between the umbrella area.

Lots of people there, enjoying themselves, or just sitting/lying under the big trees, whereas the deckchairs left and right were absolutely deserted.

...t Wednesdays on the beach will be chair and umbrella free after January 1st.

We'll see !

It's Wednesday and I've just got back from Jomtien. Didn't see any erected umbrellas or deckchairs but saw plenty collapsed and stacked up against trees being guarded by some very pissed off looking people. Lots of Farang but very few Thai enjoying a reasonably clear beach.
