French man found hanged in Koh Tao with his hands tied behind his back – foul play suspected

Featured Replies

There was also a man found inside a locked suitcase which was found hung from the end of a pier in Naklua some years ago. The B.I.B. declared it as a suicide!

I wonder how long it took the Police/Forensic to notice the victims hands where tied behind his back.... 3 days? Hence the Breaking News...

Its no wonder this country is 3rd world!

I find it odd that none of the local media reported anything about the incident - I stumbled upon it searching for info about koh tao related incidents for a timeline of released info etc - it was originally reported in "democracy for burma"-blog, but as it is not in english I will not link to it, tags: bungalow, dimitri, europe, Foreigner, french tourist, Koh Phangan, rope hanging, suicide, 1.01.2015.

"... the body of a 29 year old French murder suicide Koh Tao man was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented bungalow."

The prevalent official police theory is that two Burmese men escaped from jail, hanged the victim and snuck back into their cells without anyone noticing.whistling.gif

Na, It was a Houdini type escape attempt gone wrong! whistling.gif

If the photos hadn't been released this would have been an open and shut case for the BIB, people can call me a conspiracy theorist but this does not look like suicide.

It was on the Drummond site as well.

Really depressing news, poor chap.

The Koh Tao apologists should be here shortly

Let the investigation take it's course. Thailand is not rife with serial killers or gangsters, most of them come here on the plane.

What complete and utter rubbish. The "foreign" gangsters and killers might get publicized more, but the majority are home grown, pure and simple.

To all the foreigners visiting or living here in Thailand just please be careful not to bump-heads w the locals.I grew up here and I've visited almost all places in TH(part of my job too).I can speak Thai and honestly I never had a prob w them but then again I'm Southeast Asian too. They just don't like foreigners who disrespect them in their own country no matter who they are or what they are.

Just please avoid getting in a fight w them. That's the first rule to keep in mind when coming here.

Well, maybe France will now be/get involved and encouraging more pressures on the folks down in Kao Tao and higher-ups!

I certainly wouldn't want to be in RTP shoes and any other Thai shoes involved herein!!!

I've had to pull a post because it showed pictures of the deceased.

If you can just post photos of the tied hands that will do, but please don't post pictures of people hanging.

yeah right. It was a foreign sicario who came here to kill a backpacker in a bungalow.

Or perhaps this time they will catch a cambodian. A Thai doesn't do these things. Ever !

Koh Tao, the island of Death

Is not rife with gangsters???? You must not visit pataya or phuget much.

Think we have something.........................Sadly

Anyone venturing there from now on is simply asking for it as far as I am concerned. Plenty of other places to go.

RIP.

It will be interesting to see how the police handle this....surely even they can't find evidence to implicate the 2 Burmese defendants????

My advice to the mafia on Koh Tao Death Island would be to rein in their killers, or soon tourism

will cease to exist on the island. Hmm hands tied behind the back looks a bit suspicious. Will be

tough to spin this as a suicide..

The first sentence was sufficient. The remaining is questionable.

RIP Dear Man.

I would guess people who are murdered then staged to look like suicide happens more times here than we'd like to think. RIP.

...ya' think?

Is this enough for tourists to realize is time to stop visiting Thailand for fool moon parties or do they need some more?

It believe there is a protected killer on the loose and I don't think is a serial killer, I believe it's a person who has been given immunity and is now using it to show off his power and to bully whoever he feels like. He wants to flirt with your gf? You better let him or... some Burmese might get you.

I saw it happening before, actually there was this guy in Petchboon province who committed several crimes, mostly attacking people causing serious injuries, always got away by bribing police. When one day he lost it and killed someone, his family payed an unbelievable amount of money to someone else to confess and get jail time instead, which was kindly reduced to just 3 years.

The experience made him even more bully, everybody knew he could kill with impunity.

One morning he was found dead, apparently overdose.

This is a true story, happened in 2001.

Let the investigation take it's course. Thailand is not rife with serial killers or gangsters, most of them come here on the plane.

The first sentence was sufficient. The remaining is questionable.

RIP Dear Man.

There would not have been any investigation without the social media yet again poking their nose into the matter - it was already deemed a suicide by the Koh Phangan Island po-po.

Just don't go there and you won't get murdered - it's not rocket science

The science of rocketry is not my area of expertise. Therefore, I refrain from soliciting instruction in that field.
