Islamic State Poses Same Threat to Russia as to West: Russian Diplomat

Head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's department says the Islamic State (IS) militants pose the same threat to Russia as they do to the West.

MOSCOW, January 13 (Sputnik) – The Islamic State (IS) jihadist group poses the same threat to Russia as it does to Western countries, Ilya Rogachev, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's department of new challenges and threats, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

“ISIL [iS] represents a certain threat to Russia. To a large extent [the threat] is similar to the one that the organization poses to Western countries and I do not think that there is some fundamental difference that would divide us and prevent us from working together to effectively combat it [the threat]," the Russian diplomat said.

Wonder if this is somehow related:

Islamic State video claims to show child killing Russia spies

The Islamic State released a video on Tuesday that appeared to show a child killing two men accused of spying for Russia. In the video, the two men, who said they were from Kazakhstan and Russia, said they had been working with the Federal Security Service (FSB), the Russian intelligence agency, to infiltrate the extremist organization.

In an interview at the start of the video, produced by al-Hayat Media Center, a man who gives his name as Mamayev Jambulat Yesenjanovich says he was working to “gather information about fighters from Russia” and to obtain computer data. The Russian man, Ashimov Sergey, says he was sent to kill an unnamed man and locate the residence of the Islamic State's leader.

At the end of the video, the two men are shot with a pistol by a child at an undisclosed location.

Russia do indeed face the same threat, but they will be very happy to let the USA do all the fighting and bear the cost (as will China and all the other USA haters) in the hope it will damage the economy and make it's government weaker at home. It's the way of world politics : millions die so one country can have a small advantage over another.

The Americans did the same when Russia was in Afghanistan. China are doing it everywhere and always have.

It's real simple, if you are not a muslim these death cults pose a threat to you where ever you are.

Edit to say that even if you are a muslim these animals are a threat.

He does have a point, although they have a slightly less diplomatic approach to solving the problem.

Slightly less diplomatic but highly effective. Similar to the way they handle Piracy v.s. diplomatic aproach used by the touchy feely apologists
