Where is this road ?

Featured Replies

Coming down from Doi Ang Khang I suspect, since that is what the title says.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yes. Doi Ang Khang going down to Chai Prakan and Fang

There is another road to the peak (Rte 1249) from the south off Rte 107 that is less intimidating for the queasy and also quite scenic. Easy to find the intersection as there is a traffic signal at the T junction.

Yes, that is the 1249 running up to Doi Angkhan from Chai Prakan off the 107. It is definitely a far steeper, and far more scenic road than the road up to Doi Inthanon, a rather boring road with a disappointing summit other than bragging rights of the highest elevation in the Kingdom. And with Doi Angkhan there is the optional loop run, driving the 1178, off the 107 just north of Chiang Dao and then the 1340 connecting the border town of Arunothai with Doi Angkhan. Be aware that in the cool season it can be very, very cold at the higher elevations and very foggy also. But the loop makes for one of the great rides up north, with plenty of options for overnighting up on Doi Angkhan or at Chiang Dao.

Has anyone stayed at the Doi Ang Khan Nature Resort or Chiang Dao Hill Resort recently ?
