Is Cedar wood available in Thailand, easy to find and inexpensive?

Reason I need is that I have an issue with fruit flies, and I read somewhere that having Cedar sticks around keeps the at large, because they don't like the smell of it.

So actually I would only need left overs.

If your problem is with the flies inside the house then you can recreate the smell of cedar wood/sandalwood with an aroma oil burner or better a diffuser.

You can get replica aroma oils from the chemical companies for 30-50bt.

Oil and candles need attention to keep topping up but diffusers last 3month on a small bottle.

We have citronella to keep mossies away but i detest that smell.

Diffusers just 150bt for a set. We have a few in the spa here.

Just a bunch of sticks to most people.post-150623-14264882042813_thumb.jpg

It isn't only in the house, because i seem to have that finally under control with fruit fly traps, but also on the terras because it's they carry you away there within minutes.

Do you think the fragrant would be effective on an outside terras?

Try using fly swatters. It's a pastime that can be addictive. I go out for a smoke and swat 3-10 of the buggers. It does make a difference after the while. IE: instead of 100's whacking around, there's only a few. :)

Ever tried to handle swatters while eating with knife and fork?

By the way these insects are too small for a swatter, it are the ones that attach to any loose hanging string with hundreds, maybe thousands at a time.

I have never seen cedar here. Import it from the U.S. is the only way 11 year looking No Hab. Does not grown in Hot & humid climates & there are so few Americans that is a real niche item. If you really want it get it online in the states & have them ship Internationally & arrange an agent to make sure it goes to you without problems. Been trying for years to get cedar pre made closet panels so far that is the best info I have found.

Red Cedar oil is obtainable in the US and Canada and is supposed to work wonders againt ticks and many other critters. Ebay?

Thanks for that tip. I wish I needed that much cedar. I love the way it smells & works great in Humidiy for storing Camera gear & clothes.!!!!!!!!!!

I will save this info for later use Maybe with enough Americans that need we can pitch in on an order some day! Best closets in the world cedar is! I would think it would be way to soft for flooring though.

10 Q meters will be a bit over the top to get rid of fruit flies I suppose. I'm looking for some left overs.

You never know mate , maybe they have some scrap timber .

Last night outside on my own deck i noticed the fruit flies all around me.

Yes annoying and the zapper racket no good.

Quite inadvertantly though i found a solution.

They are attracted to chang beer though other varieties may work!

This morning the bit of beer in the bottom of the glass had 25 drowned (or maybe just pi$$ed up) flies floating.

So how about trying the beer in a saucer or ramikin dish.

I actually use beer in a yoghurt pot pressed into the soil in wet season its a great snail and slug killer.
