A Message to U.S. Citizens in the Chiang Rai Area:

The U.S. Citizen Services Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Chiang Mai is pleased to inform you of our upcoming consular visit to Chiang Rai on Friday, May 8, 2015. Consular staff will be available to provide services from 8:30 to 11:30 in the morning.

We will confirm the location of the outreach in a later notice.

The following consular services will be available:

Passport renewals

(Note: an applicant’s new passport will be sent by to the Consulate directly from the US print facility. The applicant or a designated representative must pick up the new passport at the Consulate in Chiang Mai. It takes up to two weeks for the Consulate to receive the new passport. Applicants will retain their current passport, which remains valid until it is hand-cancelled and returned to the applicant, at the same time the new passport is picked up).

Notarial services

Social Security or other federal benefits questions

Appointments are not needed for these consular services in Chiang Rai.

NOTE: Unfortunately we cannot accept applications for Consular Reports of Birth Abroad or for adding visa pages to a current U.S. passport. Applicants must come to Chiang Mai for these services. We encourage persons seeking to add visa pages to consider applying for a new 52 page passport, even if their passport will not soon expire. Adding pages has an $82 fee.
