Do you find people still treat you like a criminal?

do criminals actually move out here and shout it from the roof tops that they are criminals ?

Yes sometimes they do. That's how stupid they are. Some, not all.

Few of us here got one sorted out. As it turned out we uncovered a few more.

I was hoping for some stories. Obviously there's plenty of ex cons in LOS, how's it working out for these guys and gals.

Can't be easy, you know as they say, once a con always a con.

I spent a night in jail in Denver for a warrant issued for failure to pay a speeding ticket.

I have not failed to pay one in Thailand, so no problem!

They issue warrants for unpaid fines in the US? News to me.

Would cost more to jail you for the night!

Years ago people use to cut their fines out in Australia too. I'm not sure if it was all states, but some.

People would turn up on a Friday afternoon and spend a couple of days in the cells to cut out a few fines......back at work Monday morning, cheap weekend, all meals and bed provided. We'd even let them read the papers when we had finished thumbing thru them. 5555555

Ahhh the good old days.

We'd get the cars cleaned too. ?

Please do tell more, or do we need to create a new thread about it.

Please tell me you were Jack the Ripper, or something like that!

I've had more than one parking infringement.

Don't fall for him Songhua, he is a cop.

One minute you are admitting to a traffic infringement, next thing you are being accused of murder...

i'd say you are a product of the society that raised you. moving to thailand is like moving to an inactive post.

there are no all encompassing rabid farang grannies network in thailand so i am unlikely to re-offend.

.

Actually, no. The federal government subsidizes every county prisoner. The county, in turn, actually makes a profit.

PB&Js aren't expensive.

I stole a Mars bar every day for three years from my local corner shop on my way to school.

I hate Mars bars now....I considered stealing boxes of Pocky but they don't fit under my singlet too easy.

My 2 cents:

I have a certain view regarding the police here and in Europe. In Europe I understand and join the slogan "<deleted> the Police" they have more in common with criminals than us, in BKK I say krap khun maak krap Mr. police officer.

In Europe I was strip searched twice for absolutely no reason apart from looking suspicious, without even receiving an apologyangry.png . An old couple was fined for jaywalking just for moving too slow, the light turned red when they were halfway across the road. A kid was fined for forgetting her ticket by a conductor who knew her and checked her everyday. Then when my neighbors car was smashed up overnight they said they'd look into the matter but never did anything.

In Thailand I haven't been bullied by the police once and have gotten away with a simple warning for petty things like smoking in a prohibited area or littering. When I needed help they were always willing to take their time and resolve matters verbally.

This is one of the reasons why I don't want to go back.

If you have commited A crime in your life, then went to jail you paid for the crime. If you've done that then you are not A

Criminal.Your then an ex criminal. Then you are legal to visit Thailand and most other countries. And if your an ex drug dealer why would the authorities believe your smuggling drugs? Many people stop being stupid sometime in their life.

I once had a friend of a friend and his second cousin was only a part time crim and that was mainly when he forgot to take his " calm down " medication in the morning. Problem is when he goes to Thailand he forgets that prostitution is illegal in Thailand and then he has the dilemma of if he pays the girl he is committing and abetting a criminal act and because he is only part time in criminal activity he prefers to think she is his girlfriend for the two hours.

And sometimes he gets his " happy pills" medications mixed up with viagra which makes his moods more variable and more prone to mixing with criminal elements in his hotel room . What should he do ?

I have a close friend named Shiloh who spent 30-years in Federal Max. Prison in America. Now in Thailand, has 4 bank accounts and gets 100,000 baht in each account every month from friends he didn't rat on. He will never tell you his real name in person, lives modestly, and travels quite a bit. He tells some people he was a mechanic and got inheritance, others a totally different story. Tattoos are hidden, some changed, and even takes courses on how to act (so to get rid of any tells from prison). you might catch him in thailand a few months out of the year.........

Uh, yes, you do, if you've been arrested in the county.

I think the OP should give some background to himself & what benefit he would gain from opening such a topic ,then how would he use any information garnered.
