Sewage River at Kamala

Featured Replies

Enjoying a holiday at Kamala beach. However, down near the south end there is a river which runs into the ocean that smells quite foul. That's not open sewage is it?!

It's a mix of everything. Sewer, grey water from showers and laundries and cooking oils from restaurants. After the rains come it all comes via the drains to the sea.

All beaches have this problem here but Kamala has one of the worst I've seen.

Don't worry. Former Gov checked the water quality with his hand. He said it's good so move on nothing to see here.

Thought that was the black water at the north end of Karon beach ?

Kata is stinky today. Both ends but particularly the north end Klong. I never ever swim in the sea after it rains.

Umm that sort of thing is not good for fish is it and isn't that a lot of peoples livelihood in the "Subsistence Economy" - Perhaps some decent infrastructure and rules may be a good start before parading economic miracles.

We leave these things for future generations to sort out. Live for today its the Thai way.

Sounds just like Australia.

Sure, and especially after the first rains.
