Paris Olympics: Officials play down Covid fears after water polo players test positive
John it's not that they forget...they just don't care anymore. The covid was years ago now. People have moved on with life. This forum has people from all over yet the threads on covid have all but died. Speaks volumes about how little people care now. -

Thailand's Constitutional Court to Decide on Move Forward Party's Dissolution on August 7
Well, this has been settled. In an astonishing development the court has decided to completely abolish the Move Forward party, the most popular party in the country. Thailand's Constitutional Court has ruled to dissolve the opposition Move Forward Party (MFP) and ban its executives, including the duly elected PM Pita, from political office for 10 years. The progressive political party won the most seats at the last election in 2023, but was blocked from forming a government last year by conservative forces in the military-appointed Senate. A rather astonishing bit of continued regression. And we certainly know who is behind it. Woe are the people of Thailand. -

PM Srettha vows no interference in MFP court ruling
It is clear again that this country is an autocracy and totalitarian system as the verdict today shows. It is remarkable that all problems of MFP started After they won the elections....A prove that the current leaders will never accept a people chosen Government... -

Digital wallet as social engineering
Don't really know. It seems to me that Scandinavians are very happy about it, they love, trust and believe their governments. Germans, Austrians, Swiss are not happy and grumbling, but if their government says "jump", they jump. Southern Europeans have always been the creative types. But they more or less follow EU regulations because they live on EU subsidies. These are gross generalizations, but there really is almost no resistance against the abolition of cash. -

Electric Vehicles in Thailand
@KannikaP This is my usual morning (long) cruise in the EV. Dog and myself to the park, (short), and if cruising by surf also, the long cruise. 11.7 is the amount of kwh to go 100 kms, as calculated, used be the car. 46.3 usable battery ÷ 11.7 = 3.957 X 100 = 395+kms per charge So when I state 360 kms, that's mix local driving. If short cruise, then average 60 kph, as most of the drive is 4 lane road. If long, then short accounts for 8 kms, and the other half is probably 25-40 kph.- 1

Good dentist in Bangkok (but not a factory-like clinic)
How many outlets all over town? How many floors are their main clinic with how many dentists? Of course these factories are privately owned. There is always an owner. I happen to know this clinic & they are great in upselling. Clinics which are highly recommended on travel forums one should be weary off. -

Using an overseas Debit Card to minimise paying tax for those of us staying over 180 days
Looks like I wasted a whole lot of time over nothing, but I learned something new, i.e. if you are living off of your savings from abroad, which were earned before 2024 and I remit money to Thailand annually, I pay zero tax, ever. I like that, the savings are from the sale of my house (principal place of residence) 2017 and I remit a mil baht to live on every year, and can prove the sale with documentation, if ever asked. -

Potential Collapse of Vital Atlantic Ocean Currents: A Looming Climate Catastrophe
You cite no facts backed by links even to a non-credible source, much less a credible one. However, I do agree with your characterization of " the idea that we can stop it changing if only we all drive an EV or pay more taxes, or kill all the ruminants on the planet and eat bugs instead," is nonsense. Of course, it's nonsense of your own invention. Climatologist do no claim that any one of these actions by itself can solve the problem. That is your own invention. You compound the nonsense by asserting that it's irrelevant whether climate "is changing faster than before." If you were offered 2 investment options, equally secure, but one that offers a rate of return 1% and another that offers a rate of 10%, you would judge that difference to be irrelevant, too? -

Thailand unveils new visa rules, sparks mixed reactions
I don't keep up with Thai immigration rules anymore. But, does this mean as a US citizen I can fly in , get a 90 day, then extend 30. Fly out and fly back in for another 90 days? So I could stay about 180/yr?
