TCC's Issara: Thailand should focus on developing country's export market

BANGKOK, 21 April 2015, (NNT) - Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) President Issara Wongkusonkij has indicated that he would meet with the Ministry of Commerce on measures to boost activity in the export sector. Initially he thinks the nation should focus on penetrating markets in developing nations.

Mr. Issara stated that such countries include CLMV, which are Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. He suggested marketing strategies should be formulated and logistic systems infrastructure should be laid down, in order to build a solid trade foundation in these rapidly developing markets.

Furthermore, the TCC President would propose the idea of marketing SME products in the European Union, saying not only would this help the local SME sector to grow, but also these goods would be favorably received in the region which is suffering from an economic slowdown and restrained public purchasing power.

Nonetheless Mr. Issara expressed the view that the contraction in the economic sector is a direct result of the baht's appreciation and the global economic slump. He also said more time is needed to adjust projections of annual export growth.

Your time is up!

Yesterday the Kasikorn Research Centre predicted ZERO export growth for 2015. Best you start planning for 2016, especially if the EU bans Thai seafood imports due to over fishing and human trafficking in the industry.
